  • Align 450 pro FBL converison

    Hello,

i am going to convert my 450 pro to go FBL. I have ordered the DFC head and a Spektrum AR7200X receiver / FBL unit. Do I need anything else ? I know that I can keep the original swash but do I need a new feathering shaft ? Does anyone know of a good link to a video of someone doing the conversion. I have been looking but cannot find a decent tutorial to help me swap the heads over ?

thank you in advance for any responses !!

    cheers James.

I had that exact combo on mine - work very well. I also used the standard swash. The DFC conversion still needs the original feta thing shaft and thrust bearings.

Thank you ! Do you have a URL you could paste into the thread that will assist me with the head conversion ? Also how much did the stability improve for you ? Are you glad you converted ?

      cheers again !

I don't have a URL, but the conversion is straight forward. Very glad I converted, I love the dfc head...I now have a FuBar unit on it because I went from Spektrum to Futaba.
Let me know if you get stuck, I should be able to talk you through the setup.

I find the heli more stable in the hover and crisper on the cyclics...if that makes sense.

nice combo, it works well, exactly what ive got on mine, had no trouble with not using the DFC swash, just stuck with the original, and it all worked perfectly we till I pounded it into the dirt

the change over is pretty straightforward. I think youll find a pdf of the 450 DFC which should answer any queries about building up the head. setup manual for the BeastX can be found online as can setup videos on youtube.
            All the best
            Tony.

Thanks, I am hoping to improve the stability as the 450's can be quite jittery in quite low breezes. Thanks for the offer of help if I get stuck with the set up too !

Cheers I've got the pdf's now. The parts arrive on Monday so I'll hopefully be ready for maiden flight by the weekend!

Hi, after a few set backs I finally got the 450 in the air with the AR7200BX installed. Got my tail pretty locked in, but have some oscillating on the elevator axis. I played around with pot 1 as manual says that i need to reduce this bit not found the sweet spot yet. Does anyone else fly a 450 Pro with the BX and if so what pot settings does anyone use ?

                  Cheers James.

You will need the right feathering spindle its longer than a SEV2 one... not sure about the pro but I guess that's true as well... I have just converted a SEV2 to DFC so beware you will need a 2mm drill and a lathe. the top of the upper main bearing to the Jesus bolt is about 0.5mm shorter and the main shaft is 3mm too high to get enough length on the swash driver links I shortened my shaft in the lathe and put a new hole in it...
                    Steve...

Now enhanced with some more EGS's....

The dfc head kit came with the new main shaft which is slightly shorter as you mention and it all fits perfectly, no drilling needed. There are no vibrations what so ever, just need to get settings right with the pots. How have you set yours, do you use a Beastx set up?
