  • Regarding Smacktalk RC vids

Is this worth it or is there anything better you guys could direct me to?
Learning 3D Chapter 1: The Basics! « SmackTalk RC

I want to buy their dvd as well but I don't like buying DVDs now but they don't seem to have any bluray versions.

I want to learn the basics of 3D - I can hover inverted now on the sim but everytime I do that, I then forget how to hover nose in normal (and I'm awesome at nose in normal) So I'm kinda scared of hovering inverted.

If you download there vids you don't need to buy there DVD as it is the same. I have downloaded there 3D series and found them good with some good tips and Bert demonstrates them well. there are a few free tutorials done on flight sims but I prefer the ones from Smacktalk.

The 'basics' video is simply bert going through the need to have nailed circuits in all orientations and inverted hovering done in all orientations repeatedly before beginning to learn any serious moves.

Nice vid still and downloading 1 by 1 is cheaper than buying the DVD

Talks a bit about how to get inverted but not a lot really

Once i have learned that myself i'll probably download more in the series.

As good as those vids are. Why pay for something when there are thousands of videos of how to do heli flying from the basics through to full on 3D. Lot's on youtube and here is a FREE set from Spain:- Tutoriales de maniobras en (video)
Been there and done that, but never stop learning.
Now too many Helis to mention?

I'm using the Freddy Can Fly series Rc-Heli flight lesson 4... Intro to inverted flying (freddys flight academy) - YouTube
I like his talk through of what to focus on and suggestions of what to try. Before viewing them I didn't really know what to focus on in the sim.

+1 on the Freddy can fly Rc-Heli flight lessons. These are absolutely brilliant. Real easy to follow and he explains and shows everything so clearly. I watch these constantly.

Smacktalk videos are really good, I owe most of my progress to them to be honest (. If I wouldn't get them when I started (they were just released, so great timing), I'd probably doing uncontrolled random tictocs and tail in flip-flopping and call it 3D. Smacktalks videos have very good progression and very good explanation from basics to very advanced manoeuvres.
For me they were worth every penny.

I have the first few 3D episodes but I also downloaded the 101 series. I found the 101 very useful as it improved what I was already doing and gave me a structure to follow when I go out and practice at the field. Either way you go the tips and advice you can get from these things will advance your progression.

I know just what you mean about hovering nose in. I practised hovering inverted nose in so much that my right side up nose in suffered too. If you practice enough you will get to a stage where you can just do both without thinking too much! Now when i flip into nose in inverted, i am relaxed and the panic has gone, i'm not to good at tail in inverted yet but i'm getting there!
