  • I flew an Odin today!!!

Just wanted to share the fact that Ade very kindly and trustingly allowed me to fly the Compass Odin today

The chaps at the club have all had a good look over it and seen it in action over the last couple of weeks,i dont know how much of this models specs will be in the final version but to me it seems pretty sorted. The electric cooling fan was a bit of a headscratcher at first but its actually resulted from some clever thinking, the heli is more compact and the engine is relieved of the extra load a standard fan adds. The result of this is that the model from an observers point of view appears to have better power, and darts around quite nicely

When Ade offered me a fly i couldnt resist, the sky was crap and grey and i always get very nervous with other peoples models, this one even more so.But it instantly felt `just right`,i have always felt pretty comfortable with Ades setup,i only flew it around and did some loops, rolls, inverted circuits and inverted loops and a few Tic Tocs but the model behaved very well and was a complete joy to fly,the power was pretty incredible and i couldnt do tic tocs without it climbing as i did them.It does feel very light in the air but was also very precise,it was a windy day and the 50`s were feeling it but the Odin was not affected one bit

All in all i think this little baby is going to make a big impact in the 90 sector of the hobby and it bloody well deserves it.

Thanks Ade,that was by far the highlight of the flying day

        Nice one Chris,

I had a good look over last week and was impressed. Finally someone is going to bring out an affordable 90 size ship. I liked the cooling fan idea, maybe needs rigging into a flight switch. I loved the frame build up design. Also instead of them trying to re invent the wheel compass have used their very well proven head, tail and frame design and incorporated it into this beast. Nice!!!

A note I would like to make is that I think Ade does his job well, ie allowing other people to fly his models and make up their own mind.

OTHER SPONSERED PILOTS PLEASE TAKE NOTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

        -God I miss my Knight-

        Cheers

PS Ade are you down tomorrow?
        Cheers Matt

Dont worry Matt, you will be able to have a go on my Knight 3d soon

You will love the Odin and it would be very good to hear your thoughts seeing as you currently have a 90 ship

                  Wah hey,

I also flew the 'Odin' today thanks to Ade. Was very impressed, model felt light, agile but also accurate. Looks are good in the sky as well. To sum it up I think this models flys the Knight but with the graciousness of a 90. It kind of irons out all the slight twictyness you get with a 50 size machine.

                  I liked it.......alot

Also saw Ade give it a hammering the flight after and it hasn't come apart yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lots of potenial here guys.

If your thinking of a 90 size machine, this one may well be worth a look
                  Cheers Matt

Well Ade made some tweaks to the model and he allowed me to fly it again, not sure if all the tweaks were made before or after Matts flight though.

I am sure Ade will say what adjustments he has made but today it felt MUCH more lively, but in a nice way, everything seemed much quicker and it reminded me more of a good 3d 50 than a 90 maybe but it still had that 90 size prescence and momentum in the air.I maybe would of run a bit of Expo to get it to feel more suited to me but this was set up the way Ade likes it of course.

To sum it up,i think this model has great potential i really do.

Again it was a pleasure to fly

I've not seen one fly but have had a look at one. Could not believe how light and compact it was for a 90.
                      Cheers, Lee.

Thought i would just add,off the back of flying the Odin and being impressed with Compass`s offerings,i am now the proud owner of a Knight 3d courtesy of Mr Models,Rappy 50 is being stripped and sold to kit it out

It will be a while until it maidens because i dont want the 401 from my Rappy in it,i am waiting for another Spartan which has impressed me in the T Rex 500
