fixing my elyq regulator

One of the pins snapped on one of the two battery inputs. It seemed daft to use just one on the grounds that it rather defeated the object of having two so i thought I;d have a go at fixing it.
The idea I came up with was to desolder the 3 pin block and swap over one of the blocks I don't use.
I dont know how you electronics guys manage to do that... there's not enough hands or room to get traction on the block and heat up all three pin bases at the same time.
I managed to get the broken on off but failed miserably to even loosen the spare.

In the end I came up with a solution ..used three pins from a servo lead making set..nipped them shorter and cooked each one through single..using the soldering iron on the pin and letting the heat run down it then trimming off the excess pin at the back.
It works but obviouslyy not as elegant.

Now to repair the repaired cracked case I had to take apart... somethign that should cost about 30p and is made of nasty brittle plastic that costs silly money to replace.

I really am getting peed off at the rip-off prices for rc kit..when you see the price for a new regulator - sheesh. I;d have gone life if it hadn't fixed.... but just bought new lipo receiver packs

I've actually got some wick..didn't think to use it ..but so little solder on those tiny pins I'd have doubted it would have taken any up???

Thanks for that offer.. but I do have it working bar the broken case and if planehazza has one with intact case then cheapest solution...

Yeah that's fine with me. Like you said, I've moved over to the LiFe route so they're just sitting there. Low price as I've kept and used the cables for other projects so it's just the reg on its own, and like all ElyQ regs, the plastic is cracked and glued (still intact). I'm not using it, so if you want it and don't mind covering the postage, it's yours.
