  • Finally broken through the wall

Over the last few months i had pretty much hit a wall so to speak in my flying, Was kind of stuck in a rut not having confidence to try new stuff etc and was almost loosing enthusiasm in flying altogether ,
But recently as some of you may have seen in my recent thread i have been teaching myself piro flips,
A lot of hours on the sim and i pretty much sorted a half piro flip, I tried it the other night for real when i had a chance to put a couple packs through my 450 and they were ok, Some more sim time the last couple nights and i went out tonight with the 450 and my Fusion 50 had around 7 flights between the two and pretty much sorted the half piro with both heli's, Can now get it spot on 3 out of 5 times which im really happy about

The thing that got me was as soon as i was confident with the flips i started doing other stuff in the air i had never done before and also if i got into a dumb thumb situation it was a lot easier to get myself back in line again,
Learning the flips has totally changed the way i fly now, im much more confident doing other tricks in various orientations now where as before i was only confident doing them say tail in or nose right etc

I seem to have a new found enthusiasm and confidence in my flying, Just cant wait to get out again and keep pushing myself now

Re: Finally broken through the wall

Getting first piro moves nailed opens up a ton possibilities. They are also great practice for both collective management and orientation, so everything else improves.
      It's a big breakthrough, congratulations.

        Nice going Nick.
It's great when it all comes together, but you can't beat that confidence boost.
I am much further behind in my learning curve (expert hovering and a little forward flight) but I know I could do it but I am not confident I am contemplating a couple of lessons to help move me on otherwise I will be hovering for ever.

          Finally broken through the wall

There are some big step changes when learning to fly and you have just taken the biggest and hardest. To do a piro flip well forces you to have finesse on the controls in all attitudes at all times and as you have found out completely changes your approach to flying.

          Well done.

P.s. wait til you can reverse the tail direction through the manoeuvres.

Well done Nick, it's a good feeling when you do it isn't it?! I hadn't flown since last September until the 7th-9th June and had a weekend of flying my 700N. Managed to get stall turns nailed and managed a few forward flips and holding it inverted so am well happy, just need to get the 450 Pro built up and I'll take that out. I really want to get back into the flying again, got the bug!

Well done mate. It feels good when you nail a new move. This hobby can be stressful and mentally challenging at times but also can be very rewarding.

think we all have periods like that.

Personally my progress has been non-existent over the last 18 months, so a bit of affirmative action was called for and I've started having monthly lessons with Flyin Fish. Already, after stripping my flights back to basics and working on my fundamental weak points, thinks are already starting to look better
