Pinion problem

I went to change the pinion on my scorpion motor tonight and discovered that a hex driver has been snapped off in the grub screwImageUploadedByTapatalk1371418134.531184.jpg
I've tried heat with a pencil torch, tapping with a centre punch, and drling with a 1mm bit but the hex is hardened and the bit won't touch it.
Before I attack and destroy the pinion with a cutting disc does anyone have any suggestions less drastic and destructive. ?

Can't you get a small grinding disc in the way the pinion runs for a small slot.
