Are you serious? A "3d cup" displaying scale flying? Seems way off the mark to me.

Then surely they will just watch the actual model airshow? The demographic of those actually there to watch the competition are gonna be 3d pilots or people with an interest in 3d, and as such will surely be bored stiff! I guess it will be a good time for a toilet break!

Have to agree with simmO, I love all aspects of the sport and would like to see some scale, just for interest. I dont think this would detract from the main event.

the main attraction is our 3d competition of course..which will run for the majority of the day
but i think the spectators will like to see a small amount of scale etc.this isnt a small competition on a muddy field with maybe 200 spectator..there is 8000 spectators expected at weston park model show and we must have points of interest for everyone/including promo slots for trade
a bit like the masters.remember that massive jet ranger that was displayed fantastic
            thanks

At 3DM in 2008 someone was going to demo a turbine heli but had tech issues. At that time I had not seen a turbine heli in person so was very interested.

A few shops had scale helis displayed. I think the variety is good. Even the 3D adreneline junkies might get tired of non-stop 3D

Talk to dave fisher Craig, they have scale sections in the f3c comps they do, also you could approch people down at charmouth.
I am not in to scales myself, but even i was impressed at charmouth i think last spring when that turbine cobra was bombing around.
Also Jamie, an idea slot to show off that superb turbine synergy mate

Hi Simmo, I could help and get some scale machines there to include turbine, nitro and electric. Will you be requiring B certs for this?

                      here's my turbine for example

Dave Hollins is usually at Charmouth - he of the giant turbine scale job with so many blades, I lost count! It will probably also be worth talking to Denis Stretton. If you are going to be at Charmouth, I can provide some contact info.

I'll help if I can, but it will depend on work commitments nearer the time. Unfortunately, my job is a 7-days a week rotating shift, so its difficult to know in advance which week-ends I have off, unless I burn up valuable annual leave....!

Sounds like a great idea to me

I will be trying to get up to see this, and would appreciate seeing more aspects of the hobby, not just 3d.

Broadening the demographic is never a bad move visitor number wise anyhow.
