what head dampers

I'm not clued up on the N9, but in essence you need soft dampers (maybe 80 duro), large heavy paddles (stock Hirobo Freya ones with the weights in are ideal for about £25), heavy blades (Radix 710 FAIs or SAB 705 FAIs are both excellent), C/G slightly nose heavy with a full tank of fuel, as near to 1:1 flybar ratio as you can get, zero delta offset and a solid large horizontal fin (Quick UK Freya carbon one is easily adapted to most helis).

Then, a load of tweaking of pitch curves, cyclic response and quite a few transmitter mixes as well.

hi steve, i'm running what i think are sab f3c paddles (look rather big with a metal collet/weight ) and align f3c blades. i don't know what dampers are currently in it but i'll strip it down and have a look. you lost me with regards 1-1 flybar ratios and delta offset so i think i need to have a look around the net and swat up on this type of stuff.

'Just a thought, I wonder if sometimes a viable strategy might be to have a practise machine that is setup less than optimum on purpose, making it more difficult. The idea being then that it makes you work harder. Like practising tennis with a heavier racket or wearing ankle weights to train etc.

I'm just thinking out loud here. I was out flying the Ely.Q on Saturday and trying to be super smooth with it and it's setup pretty much the opposite of an F3C setup and I'm thinking "all this would be a breeze if I brought the Robbe" but... if I could make myself fly the Ely.Q really accurate.... I don't know, as I say I'm just thinking out loud.

But the thing about dampers and paddles, so many different combinations can still work and it depends on the headspeed you run etc.

also use the out most hole on the flybar carrier, i think ade's f3c n9 has the sab paddles on it, i could be mistaken, definatly the radix 710fia (they are gold) and the out holes on the washoutbase aswell, not sure what dampers he was using but can try an find out, think he just had stocks to be honest, lots of expos, flew very very well, n9s are very accurate anyway
