  • Where to fly F3C in Essex?

The title says it all really, I'm a member of CMFA in chelmsford and whilst I have no intentions of leaving them I'm looking for a club more suited to F3C style flying.

So let the cat out of the bag where are all the Essex F3C'ers flying?

Youve seen my attempts at F3C at Chelmsford, ok a hovering triangle lol.

trouble with Chelmsfords layout is the path to the Right, its a little close for the big stuff you F3C guys want to do.
      All the best

Exactly Tony the Flying area is "deep" enough just not wide, you can't run in/out at speed. You can't auto in from the right without infringing on the "No Fly Zone" or the left most of the time because of the sun.

Still I don't want to moan about CMFA it is what it is and the site does have a lot going for it I just want somewhere so practice my aeros.

By the way before anyone gets the wrong idea I didn't say I was any good at flying F3c schedules (thats why I need somewhere to practice).

Was gonna say the fields pretty good for my style of atempted flight, but I can understand what your saying, another member has had a few words due to the same thing.

Purfleets fields fairly big, if you cant so a F3c schedule there you aint gonna do it anywhere.

I'm in NE Essex so Purfleet is about an hour and a half away from me.

Even so a quick look at their website would suggest they are'nt taking new members at the moment and flying is restricted to weekends.

Maybe F3c just ain't popular anymore, time to learn to hurripirofunnelflip.

I know it's probably way way too far from you but Box Hill is an outstanding club as far as having the space for these things. The flying area is huge and it's heli-only with three designated flight areas, one of them being pretty much as big as anyone could want.

I also fly at Kempton Park and there it's a bit cramped in comparison. There are trees at either end of the flightline pretty much where you'd be doing stall turns and stuff so you have to watch carefully to make sure you're clear of them.

Epsom Downs has a fair amount of unobstructed space. I might start having a look over there on weekdays as it can get crowded on weekends (and you have to share with the plank fliers).

The other thing about F3C is that doing the hovering practice you really need a separate area where you won't be in the way rather than smack in the middle of the main flightline.
