I'm gutted for Connor, only had 15 seconds left in he's music and one of the dfc links broke, zero point's , so he's 16th, there's always next year.

Also not forgetting Dave and Stu well done guys, top 10 have got to do it all again, come on Duncan!!.

No re-fly for a technical failure? That's a bit harsh.

There was also the Israeli guy who's tail gears stripped not long after take off. Dumb thumbs then it's fair enough to score zero, but obvious technical failures should have something in place.

It's not like you can stress test your DFC links or tail gears pre-flight.

Current fleet: Goblin Thunder Sport (700), Trex 700L, Logo 600, Specter 700, Henseleit TDR, V-Baaa control.
Next heli: I have pretty much everything I want. Maybe I'll upgrade some electronics or something.

Apparently that's the way it goes,
had my main gear strip mid flight on the Grass Roots competition this year and no 2nd chance was given, and I am talking about GR...
told the judges that I had a backup model in the car, but they didn't seem interested
indeed feels a bit harsh but its one rule for all.

You get re-flys at 3D cup if it's a technical failure, Helimasters is/was the same.

wasn't aware of that, (and happy to know that some organizers apply common sense)

to be fair in my case I was well into the routine with over half flight done and I suspect that was the reason why no re-fly was allowed,
but I am with you on this one it feels harsh to be turned down due to a technical failure,

after all the commitment from the UK team (and other teams for that matter) I think a re-fly would be the best solution when its clear that a technical failure existed,
On a DFC links its kind of hard to tell, even though we know its very likely to be the case, if you are going fast and low, its very difficult to know if it was a link failure or a dumb thumb that caused the incident.

(mind you I have no doubt that Connor was mechanical failure)

I wondered what had happened to the Israeli guy, when I see he had zero point's aswell, I'm afraid that's the rules of the FAI, I think personally if you are so far in to your flight to music or freestyle, the judges should score you up to the point of the crash, apparently the judges were enjoying he's flight.

I think the general rule in comps is up to 1 min into the flight you can have a re-flight after that its tough. but I could be wrong that may only be comps like Helifest and Air.
                      All the best
                      Tony.
