It was a bitterly cold day & the event was very well attended.
It was great to see everyone & I'd personaly like to thank james, Ron, Dan & everyone who made this event what it was.
Pete & his parents for letting the event be held at phoenix & all the judges & helpers that fed us & kept us entertained your all winners in my eyes guys.

          • Another Epic day in the Bag!

firstly a MASSIVE thank you to all the pilots .Every single one of you deserved a win. out of 50 flights = demo's only three crashes and even those did not dampen the guys enthusiasm.(It was actually Mathew Dorling than did the tail slide into the bushes)From a very high start he seemed to forget at the last second that he was the pilot not the caller . Ronnie (rocket ronnie) did a super straight arrow right into the heart of the dreaded tree!(which earned him a box of opti fuel) which for some reason he put straight in his van,we were all sure he would have gone over and burnt down the tree. And of course poor Gary "whoopsie" Wilkins who had a very "firm landing" after a knife edge piro went wrong.
I think a few videos are due to emerge but wether or not any of the crashes are there I don't know .BTBH there were so many great flights lets not dwell on the downs!

young Arron Cole at just 11 years old is our first SWRCH Grassroots champion. and what a smashing young man he is,a very worthy winner.

I would also like to mention the two young Moon Boys (Ashley/Harry) who really are a pair to look out for these lads are going to be a force to be reckoned with in the very near future I have no doubt.

A big thank you to the judges who had an uncomfortable day sat on the line(and Dan my son who again stood as line judge the whole day).It was very cold it can not of been easy for any of them.At least James and myself could move around.

Thanks to the SWRCH members who helped out with loads of small little tasks, and Chris Newby/Tony Street /Rob Turnbull and Rachel who became callers for multiple pilots.
James wife Nicky a godess in the kitchen and life saver for the judges.
Pete Milner and his parents and the Phoenix club for hosting us.

And finally to ....James Moon..who lets be honest has been the major driving force to seeing our first Grassroots competition through to completion. James organised all the sponsors the venue the pilots entries the lot! all I did was turn up today and read a list of names!

            WELL DONE>>JAMES your a star!

I'll do a thank you sponsors in a different post first its time for a bath and a chinese takeaway!
            Ron

                          • I did get a few flight videos, but to be honest the wind made it so bitterly cold that it was hard to get a lot of footage.

I did however take a lot of photos so expect to see them on here within the next few days, hopefully more photos and videos tomorrow aswell at the fun fly

                              What a cracking day!

Despite my dismal performance going over the line multiple times I actually had a blast and enjoyed myself, now I will be practicing some of the set manoeuvres as to be honest the only practice I've ever done was some 45% decents yesterday which I didn't even do today.

Thanks to everyone that made today a success and thanks for the support, I needed it.
