No way would you look a fool , I have called for a very brave man who entered who was only just in to flying circuits , he entered in the spirit of grassroots , which is to promote the enjoyment of competitive heli flying , in my view he was a hero !
thats the thing about grassroots ,it's not about beating your rivals and winning , it's about the fun ( and fear) of taking part !
My advice is go for it I promise nobody will laugh at you only laugh with you !!!

I would read the sets list and if you can do 5 then enter. It is for the newer pilot.

Think Rachel is right what she said

can I adjust this statement just very slightly, its about the fun and comradery and beating the fear of taking part.

its a fantastic experience unlike anything else, I dont think any other group of people compete against each other, but are also behind each other cheering them on quite so much.

to borrow another quote "Feel the fear and do it anyway!"
                            All the best
                            Tony.

I have to agree with Tony. Grass roots is unlike any other competition for cameradary. Everyone supports each other, its a much more relaxed atmosphere. I would urge anyone who can do a few of the moves to have a go.

                                +1 on this

Although it was rained off, there were plenty of pre comp friendly chats up at pheonix. I arrived only having met two of the judges and one of the competitors in 'real life' and left having made friends with many. I got lots of tips and help from the locals, even how to improve my score and make my sets work given 'that tree'. I thought it would probably be a reasonably relaxed affair, but had no idea it would be this friendly.

If you are worried about looking a fool or not being able to 'compete' then relax. There will be a wide range of ability there, and for a lot of people it will be about pushing themselves, rather than 'beating' anyone else.

You have 4 weeks to practice and nail your set... even if its only 1.5's and 2s... I know my set wasnt going to be much more than that....
