Trexpedro thinks its running lean, I think its running super rich (Im using a 400ml tank in 5 minutes, and as you saw, its not really hard 3D, its not really 3D at all )
So... its using a lot of fuel, and doesnt seem to be developing anywhere near the power I think it should do (that was 30% rapicon at the weekend), and it sounds funky like you say. The backplate is stone cold after a flight. Everything is telling me its rich, except for when spooling down after hitting throttle hold and autoing, the revs stay high for a couple of seconds before dropping.

Sounds like the bottom ends lean if its hanging on the pipe jimmy. Remember a lot of the time on a 55 it will be running on the mid needle quite abit till alot of power is called for so your top end may be too rich or too lean but your bottom end & mid needle could be less hence it can sound harsh in a hover but may create more smoke & the harshness dissapears when you pump in positive pitch & go onto the top end.

Yeah, he thought it was running super rich when I used it for my A test last week.
So confusing. I know you cant apply needle settings from one 55 to the next, but most people seem to be running them at 1.5 and 1.5 turns on the mid and high needles or leaner. Im at 2 on the mid and 2 1/2 on the high....
Perhaps I can coerce Mattie into giving me a hand. Tuning planks is so much easier, full throttle, tune for maximum rpm, nose in air and check the rpm doesnt drop, then richen a couple of clicks......
Im going to stick the temp sensor back on the telemetry, and if its running really cold, im tempted to wind them in to 1 1/2 on each and just see what happens at spool up, incase im mentally rich. I know that this is probably not a good idea though....
