        Was that the knight you was flying Yesterday?
        Sounded a bit strange
        I think it might be worth checking you setup as is. And may be tune it a little more.

        Sounded funky for a 55

          No offence taken, it does sound a bit funky.

          Trexpedro thinks its running lean, I think its running super rich (Im using a 400ml tank in 5 minutes, and as you saw, its not really hard 3D, its not really 3D at all )

          It was a broken engine when I got it ( it was thrown in with my 600nsp that im just finishing putting back together after stripping). It was seized, and on opening it up, the piston had broken along with the ring, and the whole thing was very dry, so I think it had a terminal lean run. The guy I got it off said he didnt want to take it apart, so just got another 55, and then packed in flying altogether. The 55 fitted to the 600 looks like it hasnt been run more than a couple of times, so im hoping there wont be an issue with that one.

          Anyway, I replaced the piston and ring. The liner looked fine, no scoring and didnt look deformed in anyway, so I didnt replace that. I replaced the rear (big) bearing but not the front bearing as this seemed ok.

          So... its using a lot of fuel, and doesnt seem to be developing anywhere near the power I think it should do (that was 30% rapicon at the weekend), and it sounds funky like you say. The backplate is stone cold after a flight. Everything is telling me its rich, except for when spooling down after hitting throttle hold and autoing, the revs stay high for a couple of seconds before dropping.

                Maybe try a carb clean and start again with its tune. Which pipe is it?

                • It really does sound lean and the smoke trail is not what I'd expect with a rich running engine. What fuel/plug are you using? Have you replaced all fuel tubing eliminating an air leak somewhere in the plumbing?

                  Geeks engine on Sunday (although seemingly 'smokey') is exactly what you are looking for.

                  Edit - I just read your post answering the brand of fuel question.

                    Main tank with normal clunk, header tank with header tank clunk. Align 600 size 'T' fuel filter and filler.

                    The header seems to be doing its job, almost no air in the top of it post flight (just a tiny bubble)

                    The tubing was (bought new about 3 months ago) all installed when I built the heli ~ 2 months ago and has had about 30 flights, maybe more now TBH.

                    • Ok, that set up looks fine.

                      I'd start by disabling the gov. Run it on curves and retune to see if that improves things.

                      • It might be running so rich it is not burning at all properly, when running spool it up and hover it for 30 secs or so, land, then when the rotors stop, pick it up then raise the nose so the muffler pipe is down, and see if loads of fuel comes out, if so then it is mega rich, this can also cause a lack of smoke as it is not hardly burning at all.
