3D Masters 2009

I've just been looking on the 3D Masters website for dates next year. It says that the venue and dates will be pulished shortly. Is there a chance that it may not be held at Northampton University again?

I know there were problems this year with the Saturday night flying being cancelled due to the "neighbours" complaining to the environmental health at the local council, but I think that the organisation, facilities and venue are absolutely spot on. Lets hope that it will be at the same place next year.

ha ha Tony, Less than a 90 minute drive for you.

Us sheep sha.. northerners have over a 3 hour drive.

Barney has around a 9 hour drive from Inverness.

yes Tim I was just having a laff with ya. I would have loved to have gone to the 3DX but that was a little far just for a day and I didnt have the weekend to spare.

but I know people like ALL over the country and you aint gonna please everyone. I'm sure there are people in landsend that have a different opinion of where it should be held lol

its been needing to be moved for a long time. asside from the noise complaints that have been getting more extreme over the past 3 years. as i pilot i hate the main field.

it faces SW, into the sun from midday onwards and from 3pm is just stupid.

SW is also the prevailing wind direction so chances are you have the wind to contend with as well as the sun. this isnt just a discomfort thing its a safety thing too. fragments from models crashing are more likely to make it into the croud. also if an auto goes wrong its more likely to go in the crowd.

forgot to mention that damn slope, lethal when it rains, supprised nobody has been hurt.

Thanks for posting Ade. I sincerely hope Jeff moves it to somewhere where the best flying isn't cancelled. I only go for the evening flying, it far out does the competition flying.

Added to that during the competition the spectators also have to face straight into the sun.....bloody marvelous.
