Just a quick update on early registration.

Early registration will be available for last years Pilot's who came in the top 5 of each category (you will all be contacted this weekend). All current sponsors with Premium and above packages are allocated 2 pilot entries also. Early entry will be opening on the HeliFest website on Sunday evening, with full competition entry and fun fly entry opening next Friday evening.

Prices are £35 per pilot for competition entry, and £30 per pilot for Fun fly entry (competition pilots DO NOT need to purchase seperate fun fly entry). Camping is included as last year with the entry fee.

I'm going to give this one a miss i think, gonna do helimasters in venlo, 3d champs, and one very special comp yet to be announced.
Seems like the fun bit of this event has been lost imo, again aimed at the higher level comp pilot and sponsors again.

Its a tricky situation because the sponsors are largely paying for the event. They have to get something back from it and 2 pilots representing their company is part of the deal. Not forgetting that sponsored pilots were squeezed in last year even after it had all sold out. Don't get me wrong, I'm not sponsored so it decreases my chances of entering. Last year it was even worse because all of the previous year's pilots were guaranteed places. When pilot entry opened I was driving my mum to a hospital appointment and by the time I got back it was all sold out out. This year only the top 5 pilots from last year are guaranteed entry so it gives the new pilots a better chance of entering.

As for the format, well its pretty much the same, as last year for the Sport and Advanced levels. Only the Pro class have to do any sets. Actually if there were sets in the lower classes then fewer people would enter and I would have a better chance of entering. However, I respect that the format is aimed at attracting less experienced pilots so we all have to make sacrifices some times.
