  • Robbe fs-61bb

hi all i spoke with my lhs today about parts for the blade 400 and mentioned about upgrade for the tail servo and they said that the best option would be robbe 11mm nano (i think that is the fs-61bb) it runs on 5.1 volt so needs a regulator they said it was not worth getting anything else as it will be nearly the same as the original.....

My question is are they trying to get my money or are they advising me right ?

The video is missing due to the recent close down of rcheli-vids. I'll recut it and host myself now I have a video server.

I've been using this servo on my 450SEV2 since I got it and it's great - I chose it because it's cheaper, lighter and seemingly better performance than a 9650 (which seems to be the tail servo of choice).

I use a GY401 but I haven't been running it in DS mode as I wasn't sure if it would just burn it out. The Trextuning review says it's OK (and it being made my Robbe and being Digital, you'd expect Futaba Digital Servo Mode to be OK on it but I hadn't seen confirmation that it's OK before). I'm going to try it in DS mode tomorrow to see if it improves things (seems fine without it though doing the basic 3D moves I do so doubt I'll notice much difference!)

The reason I was dubious about running in DS mode is this is the second Robbe FS61 BB I've had -- my old one I used on my Twister 3D and not long after putting it on my 450 it started to lose tail holding and felt sluggish, and then suddenly ceased up mid flight (managed to throttle-hold it down safely though).

BTW before anyone asks I was running a 5.1 step-down on the 450, but wondered if the damage was done while on my Twister (or if the step-down was no good). The good news is my new one is still going strong after well over 50 flights (not in DS mode) and using an Align 2-way 5.1 step-down.

Incidentally if you have a Twister 3D this servo didn't really help the my Twister's tail holding but that was probably down to the CSM HLG200 gyro - it seemed to be just as good on the £5 S7.5 servo it comes with. On a 450 with the GY401 though it's awesome.
