    Hi Everyone,

Now I dont mind crashing my heli and repairing it, and suffering the cost.

What I do mind is that something out of my control caused me to crash, I went flying today, lovely calm day, I was about 15 feet up in a hover, when all of a sudden the heli starts spinning on its own axis, looked to me like a tail rotor failure. but when I tried to kill the throttle it had no response, the heli was stuck on full throttle and was continuing to climb, it then started to bank to the left and spinning around me in circles, almost coming low and taking me out. Nothing I was doing was having any effect.

At this point I had resigned myself to the inevitable crash and tears... as it started to bank again and was heading straight for my mondeo st !!

when it hit the ground just before striking the car.

I went over to it and I could smell and hear the sounds of fire.. I pulled the battery out and removed the cover to find that the 4 in 1 has now a massive burnt hole in the back of it, as well as the main motor having some burns on it also.

    Now the thing is F'ed

almost everything on it is broke, trouble is what annoys me was none of this it seems to me is my fault, appears to me that the 4 in 1 failed and caused the crash. Only had the heli since Christmas and I have managed to fly it 3 times!! and now have a bill of repairs approaching 100 quid.

Not happy and on the verge of jacking this whole hobby in....

Do you think there is a claim under warranty?

Here are some piccys of the carnarge for all you sadists out there!

    Hi Mate,
Sorry to hear about your heli,
I recently had the same 'melt down' as you, only it was on my Twister Skylift 3in1 mixer.
I posted on here and Cambsflyer and andylinney came to my aid with some consumer rights advice.
Thanks to that advice I am about to be in receipt of a brand new aircraft.
To see their advice, go to Twister Skylift in the forums.

    Good Luck!

    Matt:-)

Yeh deffinately, get in contact with who supplied it, your rights still apply if it was a part faliure that caused it. I had a faliure on my mini pred's second flight that caused a crash and after a few heated discusions with century they repaired it.

No sorry mate, no contact details, binned the number long ago, but have a search on there web site, or take back to the shop if bought through them.
The battle i had was with one bloke that was standing in for the main person that deals with this sort of thing, as soon as the person came back off of holiday it was all sorted.

            Hi All,

Well I have just spoken to my local "HELPFULL" model shop, and put it this way, I wont use them again.

All I got told was, "Well I could have landed it by Autorotation" Like to have seen that when it was stuck on full throttle. Basically put it down to my inexperiance and refused to accept that it could be a manufacturing fault. Suggested I put a letter into him and he will pass to century. Tell you what I will do is skip the monkey and go to the organ grinder!

I have had it with this shop now, so far up there own backsides its unreal

What they have to learn is not everyone is an expert and we all make mistakes, they dont have to keep throwing it in your face and making you feel like your stupid!

give your local model shop a wide berth, the thought of one of those doing an auto is at best an unlikely event - just have a look at a t-rex 450 doing one and you'll see what I mean.

Contact the store, tell him that you're taking the Heli to consumer direct (trading standards) and then do just that. Explain to the lovely people there what has happened and the way in which you were treated by the store owner.

Remember here that your contract lies with the shop not century, so don't be dragged into dealing directly with Century UK, that's the shops job.

Have a look here these factsheets are produced by us at CAB and can be useful to print off and take to the shop. I'd be pointing out this section of it

              Replacement or repair
If you bought the goods on or after 31 March 2003, you can ask the seller to replace or repair the goods free of charge if they are faulty. If you do this within six months of receiving the goods, and it is reasonable to expect them to have lasted for the period of time you have had them, it will be assumed that the problem existed when you bought the goods, unless the seller can show otherwise. However, you can still ask for a replacement or a repair for up to six years from the date that you bought the goods, if it is reasonable for them to have lasted that long. In this case it will be up to you to show that the goods were faulty at the time of sale. The longer you have had the goods, the more difficult it is to prove that the fault was there at the time of sale.

Don't go asking for a refund or compensation unless something else was damaged as a result, all you'll do is get his back up...

              Hope this helps,

              Andy
