  • Honeybee FP + Phoe Sim vs. Blade CX2 + Phoe Sim

    Guys need your help
Total newbie with the options faced above
Most people say the Blade and Sim is best way to get in the air - however the Honeybee seems better outside. Have a massive garden and club only 5 miles away. Does it make sense to buy the honeybee but train on the Sim with the blade first to master the hover?

Obviously cant really go to the club field with my Blade could I? :-)

Can the transmitter from the Honeybee plug into the sim software?
Appreciate any pros and cons you can offer of both, or any other options.

the fixed pitch honeybee is not a very good heli. they are not very stable at all and are quite hard to fly. they are only good for hovering on the spot. they are not any better outside than the blade cx2.

id buy the blade cx2 and the phoenix and get in as much flying as you can and then in 2 - 3 months id go and buy a king2(brushless version) or a belt cp.

dont waste your money on a fixed pitch honeybee. go for the cx2.

another bonus is that the cx2 comes with a 2.4ghz transmitter so you'll never have worry about interferance or glitching.

Would I be mad to buy a Belt Cp now? Bear in mind I work 12 hour shifts from home, and can prob do some extensive sim practice before taking the sky

I think he meant the batteries for that, not Phoenix and the Blade CX2.

thats ok andy - you have the right to disagree and freedom of speech on here(unlike on runryder)

the humming bird, honey bee, twister v2 and sabre's fixed pitch helis all have tail motors and mixer units instead of tail drive belts/shafts and a proper rate/heading hold gyro.

these small fix pitch helis only run on 8.4v/9.6v nimh batteries so not very good flight times. you can use a lipo but your motors wont last long b4 they are burnt out.

they are only suited for hovering and are not really any good for flying around. if you can fly circuits with a fixed pitch then you can fly anything.

collective pitch helis have much more control than fixed pitch especialy when using the idle up.

i tried bringing my hummingbird v3 down from about 40feet. when i brought the throttle down to decend the headspeed slows right down and the heli started to shake. i give it more throttle to stop the decent and get the head speed back up and back into a hover and end up roughly at the same height i started at. you dont get this on a collective pitch heli when you have the constant head speed and collectable pitch to drive the heli down so to speek.

fixed pitch helis are mainly for indoor use or outdoors when its flat calm.

                  glad you like it though

have you got the phoenix yet?
