  • dx6i and gyro set up for a complete nugget

Hi guys, my first post on here, woohoo, though something of a rubbish one and one of need really.

I have a Heli, it came rtf, however, it came with an HL400 gyro and no matter what was done with it, It would never hold steady, so Just bought an assan GA250 and a dX6i.

I cannot get the thing to go into servo selection mode, It doesn't help that I know naff all about the radio either as when someone says the use the flangeymuff switch it's labelled as something else on the menu.

So please, for a complete nugget who is new to the radio and new to gyros, and has been sat here since 6 o'clock trying to get a red light to flash, gizza hand.

    Not got much hair left.

Looks like a double post, And I'm guessing noone can help me. Alas, I've selected my servo (savox 0256) by way of using single red light as servo is same as align ds410 so I'm told. Got it in to gyro orientation mode but cannot get it to compensate as I turn the heli 90 degreesm so do not know if I need to reverse it or not. Any ideas?

HI Crazy L welcome to the forum.

I'm afraid I don't really understand your question, and am a beginner myself, so I can't help, but there are plenty who can. I do think that a bit more info will help though, such as which heli it is, and in what way it came 'ready to fly'. Was it bought new as RTF like a blade model, or second hand that someone else built and set up? Where is the single red light? Is the model bound to the DX6i? Give the experts a bit more info and I'm sure they'll help.

Not to worry Rubber Bullets, It would be clearer to those who've set and are familiar with the Assan GA 250, they would know what the lights are doing. However, since You asked, I shall divulge. Read on my good fellow. Twister 3D Storm rtf, as in, rtf. Came with a "Planet 6" radio, and an HL400 gyro, both of which have their limitations, So to be future proof and to enable me to use a different gyro which could be adjusted via the tranny, I bought a DX6i and the aforementioned gyro.

It matters not though now as it has come to light the gyro is faulty so while I've continued the learning curve of setting up a radio from scratch, I've re-installed the HL400. So I guess the subject of this thread is now obsolete.

ah i remember now, you have to toggle the gain switch three times (thats the switch that says gyro underneath in on the dx6i) while you are turning it on.

I sat there for ages doing that not knowing why it wasn't working... its because you have to go into the gyro screen on the dx6i and change the two values so they are different numbers, if not what you are essentially doing when you are flicking the switch is switching between 50 and 50 which the gyro i presume doesn't see as anything being changed

Thanks Gilb, yes, you are correct. Someone did a pdf of a modified manual that made more sense than the chinglish one that came in the box. However, I worked that 1st bit out, set the servo type, did the endpoints, but the gyro orientation wouldn't work, and I kept losing tail servo movement unless I unplugged it and plugged it back in again....while it was switched on. We deemed it to be a faulty unit in the end. Been waiting 3 days now for the vendor to reply to my message about it, I won't hold my breath to be honest. It's as good as written off.

Yep, changed the values, didn't work. Then, like i said previously said, i have no servo movement unless I unplug the tail servo then plug it back in, wtf! It isn't right regardless, so its going back.
