"OMG, THIS IS BECOMING UNBARABLE!!!"
I'll begin by saying thanks in advance for any help I receive! I'm new to this hobby and have hit a dead end with my 450 Heli. This old girl has seen many crashes over the last 8 month but the last two are not due to my dumb thumbs proving to myself once and for all that I am improving in some respect!.
First time out this year after a long Scottish winter at my local spot on the second flight pack and the Heli becomes unresponsive mid-flight ! luck would have it I was level to the ground when this happened and at some height.
The Heli began to slowly drift forward and down as I frantically tried to effect it with spamming of the sticks to no avail then about 6 feet of the ground the motor bangs back into action briefly and then dies again at which point the model proceeds to plough into the ground!
For such a small crash the amount of damage sustained to the model was sickening! At the time my setup was as follows:
FLB unit (RX2702V-D)
3x HobbyKing HK-922MG Digital Metal Gear Servo 1.8kg/ 12g/ 0.07sec.
1x HM-V450D01-Z-15 Tail Servo (WK-2601H).
KDS Brushless ESC KDS-40A with BEC.
NTM Rotor Drive 450 Series 3400KV / 500W.
Turnigy 2200mAh 3S 25C Lipo Pack (35c burst).
Revolution 325mm FBL 3D Carbon Main Blades.
Revolution 60mm Carbon Fibre 3D Tail Rotor Blades.
FUSUNO Amazon Fiberglass Canopy.
My credit card wheezed into action and to be honest it was not a cheap repair bill but I thought what the hell and upgraded the rotor head to a bling DFC version.
When I was satisfied that I had set the model up correctly and with some help from YouTube along the way I took off for a test hover!
With +10-10 on the pitch setup I was surprised how responsive the new DFC setup was and yet so stable and smooth so I flew three 5min Flight packs back to back with no issues and came home feeling confident I could make some real progress this year with my beloved hobby!
Well today all that came to an abrupt head with the Heli stalling again in mid-air just as before only this time the motor still active but with no cylices strait into the deck motor still screaming when I walked over despite throttle hold being activated just before impact!
What’s going on here?
I have my own hunches but need a more experienced pilot to shed some light on this matter!
I would love to think that a new ESC would solve all my woes but something tells me it’s not going to be that easy…
