Hi I'm looking at different 3s batteries. How does the C rate affect the motor or ESC. I have 25c 2200 overlanders but bought a 2200 35c turnigy nano tech. How will the extra C affect the setup. Cheers.

The extra C rate will delivery more amps if required by the setup it will probably also hold on to the volts better, however I have found the turnigy's to be a bit OTT on there c rating.

Re: Help with batteries
Higher c batteries should have a lower internal resistance. This means that for a given load they will lose less voltage internally in the battery. This will translate to higher headspeeds depending on how the headspeed is governed.
However one manufacturers c rating can vary wildly in performance to another manufacturer so never take it for face value.
I personally always buy the highest c rating I can afford. This means I stress the batteries less and they should last longer.TREX 700E DFC SK540

What heli are they in and what sort of flight times are you getting from the current batteries. You can work out your average current draw and work out of you need a higher C rating or not.
"C" rating = "capacity" if a battery can discharge at 1 x C it can in theory draw its capacity which you say is 2200 mah over 1 hour. If you are discharging it at 25 x C you will use the full 2200 mah in 1/25 th of a hour. eg 2.4 min. At 35 x C 1.7 min.
C rating has no relevance between suppliers as they all have different tests. A higher C rated battery for the same setup and flight time will obviously be running not as close to its maximum rated performance so should preform better.
Hope that makes sense?

I must disagree with helimadness.
I don't think there are any tests. They just put a number on the battery. HobbyKing and their nanotech specs are complete nonsense. They claim my 450mah batteries can have an internal resistance as low as 1 milliohm. They quote the same figure for all capacities. 30miilohm would be closer to the truth. Very good 5000mah batteries can get down to 1 milliohm.

For a budget recommendation, Gens Ace batteries are excellent, I use 2200 mAh 25C in my 450's and 2600 mAh 25C in my 500 EFL Pro, both perform well and only cost £13 and £35 respectively. I understand that in proper comparison tests, Gens Ace batteries are very true to there real C rating and can be charged at 5C with no adverse effects.
Plus at the price, you can afford to buy lots more batteries, give them proper charge cycles and fly more....

I use Overlander Sport 25c 2200 mah in my 450 3D and there is plenty of power. I wouldn't worry too much about higher C ratings until you become more experienced and want more grunt for stunts. The 2200mah are just about the right size for balance and - fitting the canopy on! Until you need more power, your Overlanders will be fine for general flying.TAKE-OFF IS OPTIONAL - PANIC IS MANDATORY

Turnigy blue, the cheap ones are pretty good. HobbyKing cheap stuff is often better than their more expensive stuff. GensAce are better and Overlander have been around for ages. Electrifly have a new range as well and he's pretty good, but I haven't needed any more recently.Flasher 450 Sport. Assan GA250 with 520 tail servo, MKS DS450 cyclic.
