  • E-Sky Co-Commanche

Hi, I have just bought a co-commanche for my son, I flew it last night at work and have noticed the following problem; When in forward flight the aircraft side slips right with a small amount of roll in there for good measure.
Any suggestions on how to rectify this?
It was flown straight from the box, so to speak.

    Cheers

    Hi

Apart from this problem are there any other issues with this because I was looking at getting one of these for the fun element as they look quite good!
Are the spares readily available for it too?

    Cheers

    Bob

      Hi Bob,
Welcome to the world of rc helicopters. As you've already found - it's addictive and the only way forward is bigger and more expensive.
The problem I posted regarding my co-commanche I'm pretty certain is solely individual to the one I've got, so please don't be put off.
This is the third addition to the contra-rotating helis in my family, they're really easy to fly and fantastically fun, their success is owed to their amazing stability in the air, go out and get one and I guarantee you won't be disappointed. I'd reccomend, Esky Lama v4, Twister medevac, Blade CX2 or Esky Co-Commanche.
As for spare parts and upgrades: the world is your oyster! there are hundreds of suppliers, my only advice is to avoid the "too good to be true" deals from china/japan on sites like e-bay, ie; 40 blades for £8.
I buy the majority of my spares from a shop near to where I live:
Sussex Model Centre, they have a website and mail order dept, I would highly recommend them or BrentfordRC for any of your spares etc.

      Hope this helps,

      Matt:-)

If I may chip in here, I highly recommend SMC too, my dealings with them have always been very prompt. Bought my Blade CX2 from there as well as many spares for her (hey we all have to learn y'know.)

Thanks for that then I think I might go with the Blade CX2 though as it seems to have such a large user base here if I had any problems with it I feel I could get alot of help here about adjusting it and things like that!! Anybody painted or modded the case for a CX2 yet????

Me too. Though I seem to have kept my crashing & (attempted) repairs to E-Sky stuff for now...

Also got a couple of these http://www.sussex-model-centre.co.uk...d.asp?id=23527 batteries, and they seem pretty good.

Thats good then I'll make sure i order a mode 2 one then!! If it doesn't state which mode it is (as some sites ive seen dont) What mode is it likely to be!!!!
Where did you get your CX2????

I also have another question, would it be better to buy Phoenix Sim first before I buy the CX2 as budget might be a bit tight!! How easy is it to use Phoenix without an
RC TX?? Thanks for the help

you will need a tx to use phoenix so its best to see if you can get them bundled(you may be able to get a few quid off) i got mine here in yeovil. but to be honesst they are so popular most lhs stock them and dont need to discount.

                          Hi TraumaJunkie

                          RE Your Comanche prob,

I recently converted my old Lama V3 to a spanking new Comanche, just bought the Body, chassis, and wheels. looks really good & is about the cheapest body at around £10.

Anyway I had a big problem with it c of g wise, co axes ( all helis ) need to balance around the mainshaft. This came out well tail heavy, which these small helis are pretty sensitive to. Check that yours is balancing on the mainshaft?

Basically they never trim out right when the balance is wrong, however you trim the transmitter. I am only suggesting this may be the problem as I can’t see how it could ever balance correct as designed??

I made a flat plate out of 1mm grp sheet which attaches to the four chassis screws, and use Velcro to hold the battery on about 3/4 inch further forward.
Now balances on the mainshaft & its easier to mount any battery! Now it flies smooth as silk & just sits in a hover.

                          Tim.

Not entirely relevant, but if you look at the Co-Comanche and LamaV*4* with the bodywork off, the 4-in-1 on the Co-Co is mounted further forward. (It's just on a double-sided sticky pad.) Presumably to balance the heavier tail.

Between the Co-Co & V4, the undercarriage mounting is different.

[I'd thought about doing a conversion for some reason. I think the Co-Co looks better, but the V4 is more practical.]

I actually bought the Comanche Frame & Chassis moldings as well and transferred the motor servos across.
The position of the 4 in 1 is limited by the length of the motor wires (though these could be extended), however the balance is miles out & the 4 in 1 isn’t that heavy!
