Be careful boosting for a few minutes or running in the heli for a few minutes... you can easily come a croppa doing that. You can do that but if you do then always leave the battery for at least 10 minues afterwards before measuring the voltage to determine if you can parallel charge. If you measure the voltage during the charge or immediately after then the reading will not be correct.

If your charger has a discharge capability I'd use that to even things out rather than trying to charge them a bit or you'll just waste more time than you are saving by parallel charging.

Yes it has a discharge function too and it shows the voltage of the battery in real time so alot easier to level out. Cheers.

The voltage will recover a little after you take it off the discharge so let it rest then check again to be sure, but if you aim to match the voltage of your lowest cell the recovery should be less than 0.2V so within the limits.

I agree. The discharge function is quite a slow discharge (1A iirc) so the voltage during discharge won't be quite so different to that when it has rested. The faster you discharge or charge the greater the voltage changes when it rests.

Another thought I had was. Is there any adapters to plug into a car 12vdc socket, that can then attach to my red and black crocodile leads on the lx60b pro charger. I know I could use a 12V motorbike battery. However the question still stands. Cheers.

There is an adapter to convert anything to anything if you are happy making one up yourself That is what I would do and save yourself a load of cash.

People tend to just connect the charger direct to the car battery but be careful not to run it flat.

I am not sure what current the car 12VDC socket can take. I'd check that out too and make sure you don't exceed it.

After some advise now. I have the fusion lx60b pro charger. My dad is thinking about getting a 450 heli and has just bought a plane. Can anyone recommend any other chargers that do 1s-6s. Or is another charger like mine the same bet for the money. They cost around £50-55 depending from source. It must plug into the wall too cheers.

I can't think of a better one than the LX60B if you want it to plug into the wall without a PSU.

Is this a series cable. Do people parallel or series charge 3s batteries? What's the series rule/way? Cheers.

Series charging means one after the other. Two 12V batteries aare charged as one 24V battery. The two batteries are linked positive to negative and the two free ends charged as one 24V battery. Parallel charging means the positives are linked and the negatives are linked making a battery of the same voltage but twice the capacity. Parallel charging is the most popular as it is simple.

I just want to confirm a point please, I take it the maximum difference between batteries is 0.2V. Doesn't matter if its a 1s or a 3s. Only asking as I successfully charge my 1s batteries but now want to charge my 3s batteries. I understand what A to charge at tho. Cheers.

I suppose ideally we should check the voltage of each individual cell but I am sure most people don't. As I balance charge my batteries on every charge they are always pretty well balanced and so I just check the total voltage and if that is within the 0.2V then I am pretty certain that I am safe. My battery checker gives me each cell voltage when I plug it in to check voltage so I would notice if a battery was way out of balance and if it was then charge that battery on its own.

Every few charges I also charge my batteries on their own just to make sure they are properly balanced.

I use the 0.2V for all my batteries regardless of the number of cells... so far no issues.

It's best to get the volts as close as possible, for every cell. Lipos are capable of supplying a lot of current without much drop in voltage and when you connect two batteries at different voltages one will charge the other. Most lipos are not meant to be charged above 5C and most people think that charging at above 1C shortens their life. If all of your batteries are at storage charge and all balanced you can't go wrong. You have to check the volts anyway.
