    Hi All,

I've just got in to this hobby (CX2 & Phoenix) but will obviously have money burning a hole and upgrade. I too am undecided about 'E' versus 'N' and don't know anything about the kit needed for Nitro (e is straightforward...lipos + charger ).

So...can anyone break it down for me in terms of all the paraphernalia needed for nitro and some indicative costs? If it helps, a 450 size seems to next natural step in to proper helis from a CX2.

Thanks in advance to any kind soul who gives it a go.

    Brewber.

to run a nitro you need:

A glow stick (device with a nicad in that lights the glow plug) - £10?
A 7 mm socket wrench to take the plugs in and out - probably you have already
Something to spin the motor - a normal 12V starter and a starter wand (like a big allen key that fits into the starter) - prices vary
(you can get away with a battery drill and a ball ended allen key cur off but unless the drill is fast it doesn't work very well on very cold days I found - worked all last sumer though).

fuel (13-18 quid a US gallon)
A hand fuel pump (about 6 quid).

some fuel tube and a filter.

Probably you need something like a jump start box with 12v in it to drive the 12v starter - aldi have them now for 30 quid.

If you go to a club you can probably get a borrow of a starter for the first flight wehn you will need help anyway and then maybe you buy some of the stuff second hand. Seasoned fliers have a vast collection of this sort of thing!

The cheap lipo packs are killed by the 600 rex.
Replace "The cheap lipo" with "All lipo" in the above statement and you are on the money

Went back to my local HS Hobby Hangar today.... took the wife!

she had to come because we just had our second scan in hospital and found out we are to have a baby girl! very happy just what we wanted but thats her forum (Pampers).

the hospital and heli shop are both in town, and she prommised i could go after the scan.... cos we were near anyway!

Got a chance to look closely at the Nitro pro and discussed at length with the boss, (not the wife). i am leaning now heavily in this direction cos if i can clean a babys arse... i can clean my shiny heli!!! also i am gonna have to stick with the same one for a while and feel the old school nitro technolgy actually may have some longevity due to the latest electric model being superceded by something i will want (but cant afford) coming out and making my 600 cf look like my last mobile phone.... useless of course!!!

Lets burn some juice before Gordon slaps a further tax on coolpower!

Its nitro for me.... i can't wait!

          Mark.

Well done mark on a good choice.
HH is where i got my trex nitro from, i the sport model which i have upgraded over time to keep the start up costs lower but if you have the money go for the pro, i just like the G10 frames on the sport.
