  • Wiring problem

For all the electrical engineers out there

I have a charger for the multi function panel that can charge the battery through the panel. I have cut off the crocodile clips but now have to solder the jack onto the wires. Does the positive or negative go on the inside?

I don't profess to be a sparks but if it was me doing the job I always assumed the Middle connection on a jack was positive - Caution I also have a nag in the back of my mind that it can be the other way round on some applications -
On the face of it that wasn't a lot of help - sorry!!

        Happy birthday Dave.

Is there a way to check the polarity with a multimeter?
I now remember why I became a plumber!!

          Tis easy to do.

          Here's a little how-to

I remember covering this a few years back in a diy workshop.

well i am a sparkz by trade and i have generally known the positive to be the centre one ,but that does not mean that it will always be the case,i suggest a multimeter test first

I am (alledgedly) a sparky to, at least electronics is my degree Now in IT but still dable in electronics for fun with RC.

If you have a multimeter then you can test polarity by connecting the _ve (red) lead of the multimeter into the middle of the jack and the -ve (black) lead onto the outside of the jack and if the reading is a positive voltage then the middle is indeed the +ve.

As has already been stated, centre is normally +ve but there are exceptions as always

                hope this helps...
