    Hello
I'm about to take my next step from fixed pitch to collective and I've narrowed it down to an MCPX2 and DX8 from either Brentford RC or Kings Lynn model shop. Any low-down which is best for delivery/service etc? Anywhere else I've missed?
    Thanks

Both are very good - I'd go for Brentford RC as it's the smaller one of the two . Also if you have any questions you can ask John (Idleup95 on here).

I would strongly recommend a 130X instead of the MXCP... I have both and the 130x is by far the easier heli to fly and far more capable than the MCPX... also not really much more expensive...

I have always received superb service from both, so no worries. Regards.

You have the choice of brushless or brushed mcpx. One is half the price of the other. I'd go for a brushed mcpx and get used to it indoors, then a 130-X. One isn't enough.
It does depend on you. Smaller is cheaper, more survivable and better for indoor, larger is better for outdoor.

There's not that much difference in difficulty between the mcpx and the 450. The mcpx will survive a lot of crashes, the 450 won't survive any. If you don't crash, the 450 will be easier to fly, once past the fear factor.

Everyone is as its a discontinued model I believe. I would recommend the 130X for the OP. Great model, handles a hell of a lot. Crashes, bumps and mistakes! Dont forget there are a wealth of online suppliers and LHS that all vie for your attention and all deliver fantastic standards of customer service

Best to cut up the credit card now, rather than later. The more you fly, the easier it becomes to spend money. Clue is in the forum name. I've only flown the mcpx once, but it is very impressive considering the cost and size. I'd be interested in the range you get with the DX8 in DSM2 and DSMX mode. I get more than 25 yds with DSM2 on my 130-x and DX7.

I'm pleased you alerted me to the range thing. Tinkering with 35Mgz stuff many moons ago I thought that if you could see it you could control it i.e.out of sight. 25yds does'nt sound much even if the MCPX is just a speck at this range. Or am I missing something?

Thanks for the heads-up on the credit card but I do know the man who dies with the most toys wins!

The range test is a function of the transmitter - it massively reduces the power so you can test range whilst still in easy visual range of the helicopter. It doesn't reflect the true range of the transmitter, which is basically further than you can see!
