  • Walkera 36 help needed please

Folks I have a Walkera Dragonfly 36 sitting since 2007. I made the error of buying too much too soon...

Now that I've had a few smaller co-ax etc and worked my way up, I'd dearly love to get the Dragonfly in the air and not have it beat me. It still runs on the old crystal that I'd swap out for 2.4ghz dig, but what has me stumped is swapping to Lipo as the nimh pack that came with it has has it. Can I simply swap it out for a Lipo? It came with an 11.1v 1200mh 20c as an optional extra back then.

Should I go for the same or something different?

I was also going to swap the brushed motor for a brushless, again the OE option is now not available, what could I swap it for?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated as I'm still quite green regarding RC electronics

you should be fine to run a 3s pack of the size mentioned in the specs.

as for upgrades I wouldn't bother to be honest...just fly it until you wear it out and by then you will be ready for a more advanced heli.

check if you can still get spares for it, if you can't it will only last until the first crash so probably won't be worth buying anything for it.

to be honest unless you really want to I'd be inclined to leave it with the old 35mHz Rc system on it for the initial flights just because all the setup will be done for you already.

    good luck!
