  • epoxy fixing or not?

I have just taken delivery of some standard thunder tiger wooden blades for a raptor 30 v2. On the packet it states you should fix the clamps with epoxy resin. My local model shop said you should never fix with epoxy!
Which is correct? and if i should use it where do i buy from as i dont want to upset my relations with the local model store?

    Thanks, Darren

i think he meant you should never fix damaged blades.
you should always epoxy the grips when fitting them to the blades.
i think they are called stifferner boards or something like that.

    hope this helps - matty

What you do is remove the plastic around the bolt hole the same shape as the plastic part. Use epoxy to then glue the black plastic to the wooden blade.

      recommended on woodies!

Stuff what they say buy it from them, well I would and if they ask its for the blades. but any good epxoy will be fine.

Can 30min epoxy be bought from B&Q or is it model specific?

id have thought its the same stuff. Comes in a pair of plastic syringes joined together so you get an equal measure of each. As has been said, definatley cut the plastic around where the blade root will go, then glue it

When ya remove the plastic, mark it with a pen and then cut inside this by a couple of mm, this way the grip holds the covering down. If you cut around the grip then you'll have it tear.

So what is the advantage of glueing the plastic blade holders ?

if you dont the wooden blade can split at the bolt hole and slip through the plastic blade holder (stifferner board) and fly off on its own and leave your heli to smash itself to bits.
thats was i read in the instructions for my kyosho concept 30sr anyways.
