Firstly,i would like to say hi to all members, this is my first post on any heli forum and i need help please... i recently bought a perkins quad copter and have got on pretty well with it so my wife decided to buy me an Align trex 450 sport...i have assembled it as far as i can now but im stuck, and the booklet does not tell me what i need to know......i am using a spectrum dx6i radio with a spectrum ar6100 receiver and align gp700 giro, the problem i am having is this.i do not see a place to put the pitch servo or the single stranded wire plug that comes from the giro..i assume this is essential for the giro to work otherwise why is it there.. the ports on the receiver are as follows ....from top to bottom aux 1...gear...rudd...elev....ail....throt..and batt.. this is very confusing let alone all the other things i need to learn about setting up the heli to the radio, the book might as well be in chinese because its all very confusing for a complete beginner like me,i have never owned or flown a heli before, but want to learn, even though it seems to be a very hard thing to learn...i am not a complete novice to rc,because i have 5 fifth scale petrol (not nitro ) cars so i understand the basic principles of set ups albeit just for cars....i would be very grateful if anyone can be of assistance...thanx in advance ![]() |

welcome,
servo positions are as follows.
Id like to just point out before you harm yourself that a 450 size machine can do an awful lot of damage to you and your possessions so never play around with radio settings while the motor is able to spin the blades, either remoive the pinion or disconnect one of the motor wires so you dont have any unpleasant suprises.
elevator connects to the servo that drives the centre ball of your swash
aileron and aux1 connect to the servos either side of the frames (either way round)
gear connects to the single wire on your gyro and controls the sense gain
rudder connects to your gyro for the tail servo control
and last of all throttle connects to the esc for mtor control
I almost forgot, have fun and be safe. If in doubt ask someone that does know the answer dont guess. Youtube also has some very helpful setup videos and îs worth a search.Last edited by Downdraft; 02-02-2013, 12:35 AM.Sean,

There is a lot to learn. The instructions for the Align 450 and the DX6i are pretty good by Chinese standards. Sometimes it needs reading a few times. The gyro sense wire does two things. It controls the mode of the gyro. The gyro can work in rate or hold mode and a setting below halfway gives rate and above gives hold. The further the setting from half way the faster the gyro works until it becomes unstable. 450 helis are big enough to do a lot of damage, as said above, they also break very easily and damage themselves in the process. Finding a local club or flyer is a good move, or ask for step by step guidance on here. A smaller heli like the msr or msr-x would be a good introduction and as the msr-x is only £50 and survives most crashes it would be a better move than your 450.Flasher 450 Sport. Assan GA250 with 520 tail servo, MKS DS450 cyclic.
