I have bought one of these recently and I can't even get it off the ground.

Anyone shine some light on this or give me some beginnners pointers.

I would have thought that i coud just give it full throttle and it should go upwards?? no?

Also if anyone has some software simulators i could get second hand to plug into my controller and try that way that would be great.

I am based in victoria so don't often get a chance to try the beast.

Hi George, I think we'd need some more details before launching into a response that's going to work for you. What does happen when you open the throttle, are your batteries fully charged, have you read and understood the manual? As for simulators there are many to choose from but Pheonix RC seems to represent the best overall choice based on price and function and if your transmitter has a training plug on it then it's likely you'll get a plug to match it. Come back to us with a few more details and I'm sure we can help, Andy

Cheers for your kind response.
I am a complete novice here as I have always been into RC cars - thought I would step up a level.

Basically I have set the trip up etc as I believe it should be (on the controller)
When I push the left hand lever forward to full throttle I would expect this to make the helicopter just go straight up (or nearly straight) but it doesn't leave the floor.

I can get it to get about 1 foot of the floor if I start to move it forwards by pushing the right hand control lever forwards.

I have read the manual but it is very small and has no information about controller the Helicopter.

I believe my controller has a training plug but I need to confirm the controller type (i guess) it is the one that cam in the box with it though.

I bought the helicopter from www.modelworlduk.com if that helps.

I have two batteries for the helicopter and they seem to have both been fully charged.

it sounds like you have a mode 1 controller (throttle on the right) as opposed to a mode 2 (throttle on the left) when you push the left stick up does the swash plate on the heli tilt forward?

I tend to agree with Glen here, when you look at your transmitter you'll find that one stick is sprung to the centre in both up and down and left to right, the other will be on a ratchet on the up / down axis and sprung left to right, let us know which is which and we'll go from there....

No it should lift right off, have you followed what it says in the manual I thinks it maybe a on a seperate piece of paper, about the 2 knobs on the top of the controller, the PIT and PLT dials and make sure the switch on the right of the controller is on the N position (Very important) its only used for inverted flying

it says the dial on the left should be in the 7 oclock position and the dial on the right says it should be at the 12 oclock position before you do it you need to move one of the dip switches, i think its no 8 and then move it back again when you have adjusted the knobs, ooh er..... obviously controller has to be on at the time !

I reckon this will cure your problems

As for a simulator I have contacted reflex and phoenix and there is no support for that controller!

The handset for your info is a walkera handset, but has a century badge on it, connection is a PS2 type connector

I have tried all the cables and have had no luck, in the end i bought a Blade CX2 and that controller works on phoenix

Reflex support is useless and takes weeks to reply

No throttle is on the left! trust me

I can confirm that the throttle is on the Left.

Andrew, that is definately the correct controller yes thank you.
I only got one manual though and it is only about 8 pages.

am i correct in thinking that the rotors spin but the heli just won't lift off the ground? if so do as suggested with the pitch controls. have you checked what pitch you have on the blades when the heli is a full throttle (obviously with the motor disconnected first)

On the Tx are two rotary controls. These control the hover pitch and throttle. Set them to the centre position as a starting point. I had a look at one a few weeks ago and found it very sensitive and a pig to get off the ground. Small adjustments to the pitch and throttle controls seem to solve the problem.

What is the gear switch for guys?

Its just a spare channel for any mods such as lights landing gear etc

I broke mine

After an few indoor (large front room) hovers, a main rotor blade clipped the Stereo unit and left a little bit of damage.

Thinking well £10 for new blades, may aswell do some more damage 1st and place one big spares order.

So, down the field on a calm day, not many at the moment and started to hover. I don't know what happened but it hit the floor with a thud.

Tail rotor, servo, flybar, landing gear, tail fin and tail blade.

OK, so upon working out the damage named above I managed to flick the gear switch. Main blades motor attached and all hell broke lose. Blades spinning, helli spinning, me moving quickly, my misses going OH.

So being a complete newb here I am. I have not ordered my spares yet, but I am sure I will need help from you guys in the know.

the technical terms are completely new to me so please excuse any future posts with the wrong terms.

I am going to need to know basically how to set the ruddy thing back up again once I have replaced all of the parts. I understand the trim and making arms longer and shorter etc, but as for pitch and swash plates being level I have no idea.

Also, should my main blades be lose? Out of the box that is. If they are, how lose is lose?
