  • Yes I'm new....

I need some advice or not I don't know!
I may have too much already!

Just started flying with an indoor twister bell, and can do the basics etc, but what I lack is practice, only have access to a hall once a week.
I am looking for a starter heli that I can use outdoors as well as indoors. The guys at the local heli club have given me all sorts of advice....Trex450, Mini Titan etc, but these seem to come in kit form and I'm not that advanced yet.
I've been to two local RC shops, one wants to sell me a mini pred(the heli club have told me to avoid it), and the other wants to sell me the blade 400 rtf.
So you see I may alredy have too much advice.
What I need to know is are they trying to sell me the Blade because they have a few in stock? or Is it a good place to start?
I dont want to go over the top with my budget due to the inevitable accidents.

    HELP!

It's a good idea to get a kit, as you get the experience & buzz of building and flying your own machine. Nothing beats the grin factor when it first hovers after you finish it

I agree. Better in the long run as you get to know how it works.

It also means that when you crash (trust me here it's inevitable) you will know how to put it back together again

If you can stretch to it consider a kit, it will be more expensive than the Blade 400 though. The Blade 400 is a good heli with a very good radio, the DX6i, which has the advantage that you can keep using it for quite a while as it has 10 model memories and is a capable heli radio in it's own right. The DX6i will be £110 with a receiver so if you take this off the cost of the Blade 400 you're getting the heli, lipo & charger for £189, not a bad deal.

I wouldn't buy a Mini Pred either, my experience with helping someone else with one is that they don't fly very well at all and will end up disappointing.

even i would sooner have a BLADE 400 over a MINI PRED!!

I have a Mini pred and cant fault the thing ... had hours of fun with it ... only let down for me was the radio sucked big time ... but seeing as i had a FF7 n e way made no odds ... looked at the blade and they nice helis ... Am still flying my mini pred and apart from a bearing going in the tail gearbox I not had one problem with it at all ... well apart from human error lol ....
