  • Indoor Flying in Nantwich, Cheshire - new members welcome

There is a small group of us who fly helicopters indoors at the Guy Harvey Youth Centre, Birchin Lane, Nantwich, Cheshire, CW5 6ET on Friday nights from 7pm to 9pm (and a little beyond). We used to be part of a larger group who flew at another venue in Nantwich until the building's roof leaked in the summer. In order to keep the group viable, we could do with a few more attendees/members.

Indoors, we can accomodate co-axial, fixed pitch, small quads, and collective pitch up to 450 in size. The hall is only the size of a single badminton court, so large manouvres aren't possible; but it does allow for practice of hovering, orientations and manouvering skills practice for 250s to 450s. The small helis (Msr, 120sr Mcpx, Nano cpx, and 130x) can be used with greater abandon in the space available. Very skilled pilots of the small helis could perform 3D within the space available.

On the lighter nights we have access to an outdoor tennis court; and are less than 100 metres from Barony Park.

Whether old hand, or newbie, anyone with an interest in RC helicopter flying is welcome. If you're just starting out, don't be nervous. I was in the same position last year.

For more information - just contact me via this post or PM.

        Cost

We try to keep the cost to no more than £5 each session. If there were more we could reduce that.
We just try to cover the cost, with a small reserve held in the funds to ensure that we can meet the monthly bill if we have a few weeks when there is a smaller number attend.

First week would be no cost. After all you may decide the venue/attendees are not to your liking.

        Hope to see you there.

Ok, we'll probably come over if we get out of the shop on time, they'll be 3 of us presuming we can make it at a reasonable time.

your gonna have great fun on the 556 at that time of night! best bet is go cross country thru chelford etc and stick to the back lanes till u get to sandbach then nip up the bypass. But when u get to Crewe, go back out towards the M6 and get on the new baypass to nantwich. Getting past crewe station at that time of day is a right arse

It should be. We didn't stop flying at the old site in Nantwich last year during the snow. As long as the roads are clear enough to get there, we usually have some attendees.

                  I'll certainly be going.

Our only problem would be if neither of the two keyholders from our group can get there; although there are keyholders for the Youth Club living within a quarter mile of the venue that we could call upon to gain entry.

                  See you there.

                  Mike
