Id just get a 130x as if you can "play" with a Trex450 then a 130X will be no problem when set up on a comp radio, I used a mcpx2 and never flown before that and its easy as pie with the right settings...well did have a 3ch but got bored of it hence the skip into CP, TBH you will get bored of ether MSR so just go CP to start with so much easier and cheaper to as you have to get a msr then 130x...I would not recomend a mcpx as i wish I had just got a 130X to bein with there so much better!!!"According to recognized aero technical tests, the bumblebee cannot fly because of the shape and weight of his body in relation to the total wing area. The bumblebee doesn't know this, so he goes ahead and flies anyway." - Igor Sikorsky

There's nothing wrong in getting the 130X. You might like the challenge. Not much good for the living room though, too big, needs a hall. You will be able to fly it in the living room, but it will be more restricting than an msr size. If the 130X is too much, just get something easier and come back to it, or keep going. Things suddenly go from impossible to possible to easy to over confident. That's the real challenge, finding your limits and deciding how close you like to get to them.
On chargers a cheap charger with digital readout is essential or you won't know how far you are discharging your lipos. They don't last long if you keep going until the heli stops. Can damage the heli as well.
You can series or parallel charge the smaller batteries on a cheap charger, but you end up waiting for all 4. With 4 separate chargers or the celectra, you can have four batteries charging at different charge states, so 1 is usually ready. Mine came with the msr, they are now a bit expensive, but you may get one secondhand.Flasher 450 Sport. Assan GA250 with 520 tail servo, MKS DS450 cyclic.

Well, one thing is certain in my opinion, if you got the 130X and did find it a bit too much for you right now it certainly won't be wasted money. If you then get an MSRX or FP then when you get more skilled then the 130X will come into its own and you'll love it.
If you can handle a 450 then the 130X will feel very similar but the 130X is not an "in the house" heli. It can be flown in small areas if you know what you are doing but it really needs a hall or outside whereas the MSRX can be flown in the livingroom is you protect furniture/TVs etc with towels or cushions.
Depending on how much you want to spend and whether you want to try for a CP first I would get the 130X or the MSRX.Paul

Thanks for the advice
I can barely hover the 450 if I'm honest so know I jumped in too high. I have the Phoenix Sim and can fly around and keep it in the air perfectly fine but when you're on the real thing, it's completely different knowing if you crash, it's going to cost you real money
I'm reading conflicting issues about the MSRx, the majority are saying it's not a heli to learn on if your learning in the house as it's very fast and sensitive and others are saying it's a perfect little learner for the house
It also slides very quickly to the left when taking off, which is normal I guess but people are saying it's too much for a house flight. I might get both if I'm honest. I may get a second hand MSR to get the charger and fly in the house and then when I'm a bit more confident, take the MSRx outside for a bit of free flight,

I don't own an MSRX but I flew one last Monday and I didn't notice the left slide on lift off any more than any other heli really. I thought it quite easy to fly... a bit up on a FP and a bit easier than a CP.
All micro helis are difficult to learn in the house because all of them will be attracted to walls and hit them very quickly when learning. IMO the best place to learn to fly a mico heli is in a hall of some kind... space to go wrong but also space to learn how to put it right without crashing into furniture but not everyone has access to a hall and often the lounge has to do. Cover up the TV and anything else that the blades might attack and the MSRX does not seem a bad heli to learn on at all but it is quick... but all micros are quick.
In my opinion, a better learning heli is the Blade 120SR. It is bigger so is difficult to fly in your house but being a flybar FP it is pretty stable. The problem I found with it though is that once you progress past the FP stage and on to a CP you probably won't want to keep the 120SR but with the MSRX you might want to keep it for in house flying until you can fly a micro CP heli like the Nano CPX or MCPX.Paul

Right, I managed to snag a good deal on an MSR off ebay. The seller had bigger helis for sale at the same time so it has been owned by someone who has gotten into the hobby so took a chance on a second hand one. It's had all upgraded parts and came with the Celectra 4 port charger and about 8 batteries so pretty much set me up

I do have a problem though and was wondering if you could help? I've binded it with my DX7 but it's not giving full motion to the swashplate. If I use the Tx which came with it originally, that works fine so my DX7 is restricting movement.
I've been playing around with the settings of the DX7 and I've got it to apply less restrictions but it is in no way allowing full movement, I can't fly forward at all. I realize I have probably jumped in belly first with a DX7 before understanding it all but I would prefer to use the DX7 rather than the cheaper one supplied in the box.
Could you give me a few menu names where the settings I need are or something to point me in the right direction? I'm using the cheaper one for now but would prefer the DX7.

There's a rate setting on the gyro channel. Not gyro rate but throw rate. It should be in the manual and they can all be downloaded from E-Flite. If you need more help then pm me, I use a DX7. The msr flies ok on minimum throw. The msr-x is much better and can be flown into a wall at very high speed. I was told by our indoor organizer that not many people were flying helis a month or so back, now you can't move for msr, msr-x, mcpx and 130-X. The msr-x is definitely the best training heli. I was helping a new person who is now nose in after 4 indoor sessions with a 120SR. She can also just manage my msr-x nose in on her first try. There's going to be a new meaning to "flying like a woman".Originally posted by Reaver View PostRight, I managed to snag a good deal on an MSR off ebay. The 130-x survives crashes fairly well, but I'm unhappy about DSM2. My msr-x lost control for a fraction of a second when another DSM2 tx was switched on. I heard the tx switch click. The tx was switched on while on the floor. Perhaps the DSMX txs are restricting the frequency range for DSM2 and making problems for DSM2. I lost control of the 130-X as well and crashed.Flasher 450 Sport. Assan GA250 with 520 tail servo, MKS DS450 cyclic.

AFAIK there is no bad interaction between DSM2 and DSMX. I suspect that it might have been something else... perhaps a dodgy transmitter or something else?Paul
