Ok after many discussions with you all its pretty obvious that i should get a 50 instead of a 30 for stability reasons and then its even more so obvious if im going to get a 50 i should get the T-Rex 600n.

You all know better than me (states the obvious ) so heres what i have decided on with help from raptorheli2

600n Sport (apparently has less bits for me to break )
OS50 Hyper
A Set of cheap wooden blades and a set of CF blades for when im ready
.50 High Performance Muffler from fast lad
Spartan 760 Gyro
Jr9800G servo
Spektrum DX7 and 4x digi servo's supplied with it
2 in 1 Voltage Regulator Combo with glow plug

And a 4 Channel BuzzFlyer- Buzz Fly ( the worlds smallest 4ch heli which should allow plenty indoor practise )

Also i want to get a case of fuel 4x US 1 Gallon but i really dont know which i should use , Nitro% wise????

Is there anything in the above you personally would change or add to my list? someone said something about a revock , do i need one? is there anything else i should add?

one thing that would concern me is that the spektum digital servo's are not recomended for this size nitro heli!!!

I'd advise against using the servos that come with the DX7, have a look at the Futaba 3050 or 3152 which are cheap and tough - there were a few reports of the Spektrum ones not being up to the job.

The DS821 servo is a powerful, accurate sport digital servo recommended for RC airplane applications up to 1.20-size. For helicopters, the DS821 operates best with 30-size glow models, and up to 50-size electric. Loads and vibration in larger models may cause premature failure of the servo resulting in damage or injury to property and persons.
Important: Do not use liquid thread lock with the DS821 servo!
Do not use any form of liquid thread lock to secure the servo arm screw to the output shaft of the DS821 servo. Chemicals in these liquids react with the polycarbonate gear set causing the plastic to become brittle, fracturing the final output gear

ask your supplier to swap out the servo's for futaba 3152 servo's if he's good he'll let you have em for extra £10 each!

don't bother with woodies if you tip it over thier dead! carbons may survive, jp.s are only £35

your just a beginner why would you need a spartan gyro? a futaba 401 and 9154 combo will do every thing you need!

i'm sure they are perfectly adiqu.....o/k .. and i think we've had this conversation in another post.i was just pointing it out because if the guy has a crash(learner) spektrum and his lhs are just going to walk away surley!

I would say either the TREX 600 Sport or Knight 3D.

I have both and they are pretty reliable and very capable helis. The TREX600N is slightly prettier but the Knight 3D is a more accurate heli particularly as you progress into 3D.

On the fuel front Magnum is sensible and when you are starting out 20% is more than enough, anything more wont even notice and will cost you much more money.

The DS821 servos that come with the kit have had issues with the output shaft breaking. (I had 2 servos break on me so I have first hand experience). Futaba 3152s are good and will even be good enough when you start learning 3D.

Gyro is more than yopu need but still an excellent choice with the JR8900 tail servo.

i would agree with you richie i would not use the spectrum servos you may say your not going to 3d just yet but when you are lernning you can somtimes be moore agresive with pitch till you lern about prgressing inputs also you may find yourself trying to save the model from a dumb thumb this could result in a crash due to breaking a servo shaft ,,so with this in mind get a quality servos from the start..|hope this helps ...but the knight is a quality heli and will serv you right through to 3d,,,i have 2 and fly straight,striaight out of the box,,|||

ok ill ask about swapping the servo's over for the Futuba 3152's as suggested by Boggy.

also ill get 2/3 sets of the carbon blades suggested by Boggy as the wooden ones are 17.99 anyway

i was told the gyro and tail set up will last me without needing to upgrade when i progress into 3d so in the long run saving me money?

also i'll settle on the 20% nitro as suggested

whats the differance between the OS50 Hyper and the YS50?

ill look for a good hatori exhaust (nice one stu)

I believe the YS50 is regarded as a better engine. They are apparently harder to tune (although I have no first hand experience of them). The OS50 is standard issue with most 50 sized heli flyers nowadays and there's loads of advice out there as well all use them.

Personally, for a first engine, I would go for the OS50. Then once you know what you are doing maybe look at the YS for your next model.
