  • Can someone help me please

    Hi

I have an ESKY Belt CPX which I bought last December, flew it a couple of time and also crashed a couple of times then put it away. I have now decided to try again after buying parts needed and fitting them I also decided to upgade it a little by changing the ESC to a Tower Pro H40A as recommended on the site where I purchased the Belt CPX from. I now have big problems as I have smoke coming from the motor and wiring getting very hot. Can any tell me what I might have done wrong

Thanks in advance and Happy New Year

It could be that the motor has shorted out and you have done nothing wrong.
Can you measure the voltage coming from the esc to the motor?

      Hi mate

I haven't flown that particular model, but things to check are:

Your soldering is good - no dry joints. Solder should be bright shiny silver, not dull grey.
Bullet connectors are well fitted together.
Connectors to the battery are the right polarity - very important!
No binding in the drive train, the head should turn freely clockwise by hand
Motor pinion and main gear are correctly meshed, try feeding a small strip of receipt paper between the gears, it should crimp, not tear

      What battery are you using?

          HI

          Soldering OK
          Bullet connectors OK
Battery connections Red to Red Black to Black OK
          No Binding
Battery that came with it ESKY 11.1V 1800mAh Li-Po

The ESC I bought had dittefrent colour wires that go to the motor so I put Red with red, black with black and yellow with blue and motor was turning wrong way so I swapped two wire over the yellow and the black to make the motor spin in the correct direction

          Any thoughts

          Thanks

If everything checks out fine then it may be a damaged motor. Smoke is never a good sign, did it make any screeching noises, vibrations? Did the smoke definitely come from the motor?
I'd remove the motor pinion and give it a very brief spin up, but be ready to remove the battery at the first sign of anything wrong.
