  • What one is best

hi guys im new to the forum but im not new to rc helis. i used to fly raptor 30s many years ago and im getting back into the hobby. i bought a heliguy firefly and a heliguy atom fp a couple of months ago and im back to the way i was those years ago ie i can fly the way i used to. im going to buy a new heli early next year and my question is what one to buy. its between the raptor 50 titan se and the raptor x50f the flybarless version. whats your thoughts guys..

You won't go wrong with either one really. I have not flown the X50 myself but they do look very nice and seem to get good reviews.

Almost everything is different between the two, about the only thing they share is the same brand. With the X50 you have CCPM, carbon frames, lighter weight and the option to get a FBL version. The Raptor 50 titan is still a perfectly capable heli but perhaps not as lightning fast on the cyclics. It has mechanical mixing instead of CCPM, plastic frames, it's less expensive.

I still really like my Raptor 50V2 so I like both designs in their own way.

We had a big Raptor thread going not long ago and it seems like someone else was asking the same question.

            What one is best

Money aside; I have had both and the X50 is better in every way. It's a rock solid machine; easy to build and so far for me 100% reliable...

The only difference in set-up is that the X50 needs a transmitter that can perform 120degree electronic cyclic & collective pitch mixing, known as eCCPM (assuming you are buying the flybar one). Nearly all radios in the past 10 years have this facility, check yours does too. If you buy the Flybarless X50 then the FBL unit you buy will perform the eCCPM for you.

A FBL (flybarless) unit is simply a 3-axis gyro (rudder, aileron & elevator) so it removes the need for a separate tail gyro and is needed to stabilise the aileron & elevator axis on a FBL rotorhead. Without a FBL unit a FBL machine is way too 'twitchy' and exhibits strange behaviours in forward flight. FBL is the way to go but you must factor in the price of a FBL unit (a BeastX is a good one for beginners to set-up). I think you may need to do a little more research before you make a decision.... It's a nice decision to have though

The Raptor 50 Titan SE is a bargin right now, i have a standard flybarred one and have no plans to convert to FBL.
If you want go FBL then the X50 FBL kit would be a better option for you.

                      Good look.

thanks guys i am doing a lot of research and i know i can set up the titan se no probs but the x50 is another matter. i have the money for both and i dont even know about radio gear yet. i have to have a long think about it and make my decision. i suppose it would be good if someone on here has an x50 and all the other stuff and then they could tell me what to get lol. one min i want the titan se then i want the x50. im a fast learner and i know i can pick it up as i go along but at the mo the fbl system looks so complicated to set up. im defo gonna buy one after christmas and i know i can pick up loads of info on this site. apart from the transmitter, fbl unit, servos, battery what else is needed for an fbl ?? thanks people..
