  • Power Decrease after only a few minutes, CX2.

    Hi guys,

Got my CX2 recently, been having much fun getting used to it, had a couple of dinks and replaced the blades and stabeliser. All was running fine.

I have 2 batteries for the heli, but on either, after a couple of minutes (literally, 5 Minutes MAX) the heli really starts to loose power, and takes around 10 seconds to get around 4 feet off the ground.

Also, the both Motors get VERY hot, not sure if they did previously, only noticed when i touched by accident and can't hold finger on them for more than a couple of seconds.

Do i need to strip it down and see if anything deeper is busted?

    Cheers guys,

    Love the lil bugger tho!

sounds like you may have something binding. check the shafts aren't bent. and every thing turns freely

something's too tight and is draining power from the motors - not sure what it could be, I'll leave that to a CX2 owner but go over it and make sure that everything is moving freely - sounds as if you've tightened it all back up a bit too enthusiastically or a shaft is bent causing a load of friction.

Thanks fo the replys guys, i just did a mini strip, took all blades off, shell off, just so i could see everything, it all SEEMS to be ok, bit of solder has come off of one of the motors, it was stuck to the rubber sticky pads.

But, i'll strip it down fully tomorrow and see if anythings bent...

        Cheers,

        Dean

check carefully. an easy way to check the shafts is to stand the heli on a table place something solid next to it(up turned mug, etc) hold a biro ontop of the mug with the tip against the shaft, now slowly run the heli, any wobble where the shaft moves away from the tip will show up a bend

Had sudden power loss with my old 3CH, turned out to be solder loose. So had to buy a hot soldering iron, the ones we had were not hot enough for lead-free solder like they use on motors. They never seem to fly like they used to before though. Ah well, I did only want a cheapie to start with.
