I see these toys as (potentially) a cheap way to attract people into the hobby. If they truly are interested (as I was), they will progress onto 4 and 6 channel helis in due course. I think that the more support you give people - at all stages of his hobby (yes, including these toys ) - the more people we will attract to progress.

That said, looks like (from his sig) that the OP - Ryan is already looking to progress!

@RYAN CAIRNS That all said - Double Horse helis aren't really designed to be fixable in modular components, so doubt you'll have much luck with that I'm afraid!

I did actually start off with a couple of syama coaxials. Although at the time I was just getting back into flying planks after a 12 year lay off and wasn't actually looking to get it into helis. The one that really got me into helis was a little 50 quid "Ev. 04 pro" from tamco.

In your shoes I would be looking at a 500, crash costs are a lot less than a 600 and they will take a bit of wind.
I've come back to helis after over a year of flying fixed wing - I've started by going for a quad which is a bit like flying a fixed pitch heli but more interesting because you can flip them easier than a fixed pitch heli and they cost less to build.
I hope in the not too distant future to be getting a 500 but will probably go down this route:
Gootch 500 Review - costs quite a bit less and is very good quality, well worth looking at - plenty of money left for crash repairs!!
