  • T-rex 450 SE or 500

Thinking of attempting to build my 1st heli soon. Can someone outline the main differences between the 450SE and the 500.

I have built both and can recommend either.

The 450 comes ARF 80% ready so just the main items to fit.

Tailboom/Landing legs/Rotor head and other items.

The 500 is just as easy although it comes as a complete build.

Either model will test your skills if its your first. Its a great acheavment to build your own and take it on its maiden flight.

Trex 450 will be cheaper to get in the air due to battery/blade costs and has the advantage that it could be used at indoor events.
Trex 500 will be more stable and cope with wind alot better for the outdoors but costs will be higher.
Capability wise very similar, both are full 3d machines and align are very good at producing great kits to build with excellent instructions.

Thanks for the advice. Will probably buy the 450SE if costs are lower. Does the kit come with tools needed to build, if not what is needed.

If you can afford either I'd say the 500 is a better bet(a bit more stable, better in wind and easier to see) but if cost could be an issue you can't go wrong with a 450SE V2. There is plenty of cheap crap out there

It comes with some tools but not a lot, better to buy a set of small screw drivers and allen keys as you will be needing them.
