  • Belt CP help please

I have all the setting as received new. When I power up the light twinkles for a short period and then flashes on and off. Occasionally after a short period the motor /ESC will bleep and fire into action, but not always, and the light continues to flash on and off. In this mode the throttle works as i would expect except it rotates when fully back and i have to trim to centre to stop it then it is ok. But the Rudder is totally inactive, moving the left stick left and right has no input.

If I change the dip switches in the tx to work on FMS, then the rudder seems to work ok but can't control motor speed. I assume something is set wrong or faulty.

Dip switches 1 is off and 2 is On, and on the front I have AIL & Ele Norm and THR & RUD set to rev. The manual is as good as a chocolate teapot.

    Any help appreciated.

how you getting on with it? i thinks the esc needs setting and it is already in the setup mode. you could try another esc because it could also be faulty. you can pick a new 1 up for about a £10 of ebay.

is there any1 near kingy in colchester that knows how to set up esc's and that can go round and help him???

It might be worth a visit here - http://www.heliguy.com/Forum/belt-cp-f89.html

Theres a lot of info on the Belt CP here as well - http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=569550

Remember if your mucking about with setting up the ESC you need to be careful that the motor does not start spinning. Better still losen the motor bolts and disengage it from the main gear while you set it up.

              Thanks all for your support.

I have tried all sorts of combinations now - with the front switches AIL = Norm ELE = REV THR = NOR RUD = REV and with the left stick and trim right forward, I get the 3 bleeps as I think I should but then the motor kicks in full pelt. This is the only combination I have found that gives the 3 bleeps, all other give eith 4 x 3 beeps or nothing. Starting to think I have brought a faulty one.

I will check the forum as above and see if that helps.

Sounds like you need to put all the dip switches back to there original settings. Check the manual and it should tell you. If not do a search on your Tx in google and I'm sure you'll come up witht he defaults.

Normally the throttle should be at its lowest and so should the throttle trim. Then when you switch on the heli it should arm the esc adn off you go. If thats not happening but the other channels (Aileron, rudder, elevator) are working as you would expect then leave them alone and concentrate on the throttle channel. Have you tried putting a servo into the rx throttle channel and see if it works properly when the throttle stick is moved?

                  Thanks

I haven't tried putting a servo in the throttle channel yet as it is all tied up and i didn't want to cut ties if it is going back.

The switches are as they were out of the box and as for the manual.... it states in mode 1 the right stick does throttle and left right and left stick does back / forwards and rudder. In mode 2 it says is opposite, neither of which is how I thought it was meant to work or how it works on FMS. It also doesn't mention internal dip switches ot ESC programming, so all in all not much help.

It does help if you know which version of the heli youhave. You need to see if the stick you are moving for throttle is actually the throttle stick. Mode 1 is throttle on right stick. Mode 2 is throttle on left stick (moving up and down). Is ther not enought slack on the connectors at the tx to pull the esc out and connect the nearest servo in? This assumes that you can still get power to the Rx. Either with the esc plugged into the power(battery) socket on the Rx or a separate battery.

the throttle would be the stick without the spring when you push it forward and backwards

its sounds like when you first connected the lipo the throttle wasnt in the lowest position and the esc went into setup mode. you could of had the throttle stick down but if the channel was reversed then is would of read the throttle as being open.

the problem is probably stareing us in the face and its fustrating not being able to get my/our hands on it.

Agreed, but this was meant to be setup to fly out of box, throttle must be left stick as it is not centre sprung, so why the manual even mentions right hand throttle i will never know.
I have now written to supplier asking for replacement or refund.

You may also need the throttle trim at its lowest setting for the controller to start up, its a safety thing so you don't have your fingers removed when you power it up.

Sorry if I am teaching grandma, but thought it might help.
