It is difficult, especially if you haven't flown anything before. It's much worse at this time of year. It is very easy to panic when the heli seems to flip to a different orientation when it's only your brain complaining that it didn't evolve to fly helis. It still does very well though given time. The sim does help if you fly the heli far away. You will get better though with practice, until you start to fly the heli inverted, then you'll need to practice even more.

About my heli's orientation: I've suddenly realised why my BLADE 450 spends so much time in the shrubbery - the brand name is the first letters of BLAck and DEcker, who make hedgetrimmers. I suppose when/if I get to fly inverted I can progress to imitating one of their lawnmowers.... On a good note, B & D lawnmower blades are cheaper than Align's blades (they're 20 for £5.98 at B & Q).
And even more worrying, E-FLITE is an anagram of FLEE IT (and at times the heli DOES seem to be fleeing from something, mostly me). And it's also an anagram of I FELT 'E, but we won't go there. There are others, if you want to try!
OwenBlade mCX2 - indoor use, slightly chipped
Blade 450 3D - outdoor use, slightly grass-stained
Blade Nano CPX - indoor use, slightly lively
Blade mSR X - indoor use, slightly less lively than Nano
Spektrum DX6i, Phoenix 4
plus some spares and a lot of optimism
