  • How to assemble tail rotor of Funcopter

I took of the tail assebly after i broke a blade, now i cant get it to stay on, been over a year now cant get any help from the Perth Club in Scotland they only fly planes there, if i ask anyone for help a Glazed look comes over there eyes and they change the subject, i even offered a bottle of Whisky to anyone who can help me on U Tube.

I have all the manuals and diagrams for the Heli but im just get a headache trying to read it, what i need is a video of someone assembling one so i could copy it, but not much chance of that im thinking, seen it done for other Helis i get the impression that the Funcopter is not such a popular model, thanks for reading here is the link to U tube

You've managed to pick a pretty unusual model, so you might struggle to get any direct help I'm afraid. However, most of the function and construction of helicopters is relatively generic; do you have some specific issue you're trying to solve with the tail assembly?

The funcopter manual is available online; you probably have a copy but it'll let anyone else who tries to help you have a chance of understanding what you're talking about!

Not a lot to go on in the video since you don't show what the problem is?

The tail unit seems to bolt onto the tail boom in a fairly conventional manner, is it keeping the tail on the boom that is the problem or keeping the blades on the tail?

How to assemble tail rotor of Funcopter

Hi Colin, can you post some close up pictures of your tail so we can compare it to the pics in the manual? It doesn't look too complicated to do, just a little different to how most others do it

Many thanks for the help i made another video mabye that may clarify, im ok with planes but Helis are a completely different beast, i fell for the hype about the Blade 400 being ready to fly out of the box, thats another one i cant fly but at least no crashes with it, have a Raptor as well but just left that in the garage, i prefer the electric like my planes.

Colin, there should be a grub screw in the collet, if you have a look at the screen shot I've taken of the relevant page of the manual you'll see it's parts 107 (grub screw) and 24 (collet). Might be that you have the wrong collet. If you fly planes see if you have an appropriately sized wheel retaining collet, that might get you out if this temporarily.

            Parts you need are here:

            http://www.electricwingman.com/multi...et-223014.aspx

Has more than you need but does have the collet with the grub screws and is only £10.95 plus shipping

Hope this helps get you back in the air

Take a good close look at part #27, it appears to have a cut-out to allow the grub screw to bear down on the wire to lock it in place, if you have #27 rotated incorrectly then the grub screw will just tighten against the side instead of the wire.
