  • Whats wrong?

Just tried to spool up the trex 450 but nothing happened, unplugged the heli and tried to turn the blades, seemed very clicky! just took motor out and it has a notchy feel is this right? this is a brand new heli.

when you say nothing happened do you literally mean nothing i.e. no beeps from the ESC or lights on the receiver etc or just that the blades didn't turn?

No heli set itself bleeps etc then I tried to spool up, the blades tried to turn about 1/4 turn then stopped, I unplugged it and the blades are tight to turn, the motor is really notchy, should it spin free?

no the motor wont spin free, it will feel notchy where the magnets grab each other, it the notches feel soft and springy it maybe just the magnets but if they feel gritty then it is more likely a bearing. if you disengage the motor from the main gear do the blades turn freely?

also do you have a multimeter to test the voltage of the battery? if not how long was it charging for and at what rate, I would guess about 40 minutes at 2.2 amps after 6 minutes of flight

You might want to do others a favour and click on the "thanks" button underneath their posts. I see you're new to the forum, hence you probably don't know there's a comp going on at the moment to win a heli. The winner will be the person with the highest reputation for being helpful/friendly. This is measured by the number of "thanks" they receive via this button. If you look at each post - it tells you how many times you've been thanked, and how many times people have thanked you!

Besides the comp - it makes people feel good!

                              PS. Welcome to the forum!
