  • Noob battery charging question

I've ordered a 6 battery charging cable to allow be to more quickly charge the 1 cell lipos that I have bought with my mCPx. I have a Ansmann charger I intend to use with it (capable of 5 amp output)... so what charging curent do I use? the book says 0.7amps for a single mCPx battery, so if I have 4 batteries parallel charging do I set charge current at 2.8amps?

    Thanks in advance.

It is a good idea to keep the battery voltages the same when connecting. You should be discharging to the same volts anyway to get a decent life out of the batteries. You should end up at around 3.8V per cell. Possibly down to 3.7V but the more you take out the quicker they wear out. If the volts aren't the same you will get high charge currents and noone thinks that does lipos any good. Be carefull you don't connect flat and fully charged batteries. Check the cells with individual charging before they get weak. Only use good cells. Equal current sharing is an assumption that is not likely to be true, as it assumes all cells and connectors are identical. With lipos the charge current is very voltage sensitive which is why they are current charged. Some experts claim that voltage an capacity don't matter. That is like connecting a 3S lipo across a a car battery at 12.6V. Proper chargers are better, but voltage matching and 1C charging seems to work.
