[mini pred]

hello there all just joined the forum got my first heli for xmas (which i had to buy myself ofc) allways been into rc stuff got sum nice trucks but now ive just got this mini pred electric heli and it came with a sim but it dident stop me crashing the real one ooppss. anybody flown one or now anything about one all thoughts comments welcome cheers

Hi minipred and welcome to the forum.
The mini pred sim that comes in the package is the fms type and not the best bar far on the market, probably better to invest in a good sim i.e phoenix/reflex/realflight etc as in the long run will save you alot of money as it doesn't cost anything to crash on a simulator.
Then it would be better to buy a blade CX/twister medivac or simular conta rotating heli as these are by far the best trainers and are cheep to repair.
I myself have a minipred but it was after owning a conta rotating heli first and alot of practice on the sim.
It is all down to costs really, but even a small prang on the mini pred could cost 20 quid for a new set of blades a a couple of other bent bits so the sim would pay for itself after 4 crashes.

i played with one over crimbo and it was horrid out of the box.
what i found was if i reduced the throw to the swashplate by moveing the Z bend in by one hole on the elevator and aileron servo it really made it fly quite nice.

although i was happy with it when i gave it back to my father in law all he could manage to so was slide it along the floor to the left. (very funny) but a little frustating for him cos he can fly a 30 nitro quite well.

i think it is a bit tricky for a complete novice and at 12.99 for a boom quite expensive to break.

but u may find it o.k.

The nice thing about the mini pred is it has a 70% selection for the servo travel that obviously helps when learning. This can then be switched to 100% later on.
The 2 main probs i found moving to the mini pred was it was a git to set up again after a re-build (that as a learner is going to happen) and also the parts are quite expensive.
When you do get some experience on it fit carbon blades as in a crash they don't drop and hit the boom as easy as the woods do, but you need to get comfortable with it first.
Mine flew very well out off the box to be fair even though it was my first collective pitch heli i manage to hover it for the whole battery straight off with only minor trimming.
If you are going to try it out FIT THE TRAINING GEAR! Helps build confidence when you land a bit iffy.
