  • Hi all, what have I done!!!!

Hi all Heliaddicts out there. Well I don't have to tell you that I've been bitten by the bug as I wouldn't be writing this post.

Been a bit greedy too, I've ordered myself an Esky Belt CP, but as I've no real experience I've followed your advice and am going to get a Blade CX2, well I would if I could get one, but all the more local retailers seem to be out of stock at the moment, but I will buy one very soon to compliment the Belt CP as I need to learn how to fly before I put the Belt CP into the ground in an expensive manner.

I hope I can tap you guys experience as and when I get into difficulties, I do like to do my home work but I'm bound to miss something.

Keep all the set up post coming in, I'm reading them all avidly, and ALL advice gratefully received, well maybe not quite all.

    Cheers guys.

        Thanks for the suggestions guys.

Well the Belt CP arrived today, a lovely looking bit of kit, (well through the eyes of a beginner anyway), bit worried about flying it though when the time comes, I still cant get hold of a Eflite CX 2 or a Pheonix sim yet though, I'm after this lot fairly local to me in the Portsmouth area, bit put off by postal delivery as this Belt Cp was delayed because of an inept courier service.
Anyone know of any good shops in my area who can supply me with these items??
        Don't mind travelling a bit.

          Hi and Welcome,

I started out in this hobby last year and got most of the stuff for my first heli from SMS in Worthing.

Portsmouth models in Cosham as one or two small helis but doesn't carry a lot of stock, he can order items in though.

If you get stuck PM me as I'm in Portsmouth too.

          Regards,

          Phil M

I ordered mine from simply t rex after phoning them to confirm they had them in stock. Good price too less than £120 and free next day delivery.

Thanks guys appreciate the help with the sites ect.

I've located some Cx's at SMS in Worthing, they've got some in stock now both mode one and two, so I'll be up there to get one tomorrow, get the training gear and some spares too while I'm at it, ummm going to need some self control when I get in there or the card will soon get maxed out.

Definitely buy the Phoenix sim first then download the Blade CX2. Fly it around for a few minutes/hours and then ask yourself if you really need to buy the real thing. They seem a bit easy to fly to me and I am also a newbie.

With the £120 you save not buying the CX2 put it towards a Trex 450SE V2 once you have stuffed your Belt into the ground.

I have to admit you suggestion does make some sense Gig, but I like to get my hands dirty in a manner of speaking and at least I can fly the Cx indoors when its poor outside. I plan a Sim but I doubt it gives quite the same thrill as flying something, as long as it not straight into the ground of course.

don't miss the point of our recomending the cx2 . yes they are easy to fly they give you the first buzz of seeing the real thing. phoenix is a sim and good as it is the only way you'll get that nervous energy is to tell the mrs she can spend £50 on clothes every time you crash!

decanter if you've already got the belt cp. get used to hovering the honeybee on phoenix, the go try hover yours you'll see what we mean!

yes the cx2 is relatively easy but it will teach you so much it still drifts around if you dont try to hold it on the spot and will teach you nose in and even gentle circuits

Ill do that Boggy the plan is to pick up the Sim up at the same time as the Cx2, and get handy with that before I get anywhere near the Belt Cp.

                            Thanks for that

Well I picked up my Cx2 Heli, Sim, and some spares today, installed the training kit and well gave it a little go, but its not wanting to fly very well, looks like the dynamics have changed a bit with the training kit fitted, I've centred it but the copter still doesn't want to hover without drifting all over the place, have read the manual and there's plenty of adjustment that can be made but to be honest I'm a little surprised that I'd have to go to those lengths on a new Heli.

Did all the usual pre flight checks, and all seems in order, am I being nieve here or do all Helis require a certain amount of setting up before the first flight?
