As the title, Whats a good beginner Collective Pitch Heli?

Ive been looking at the Belt CP, is this a good start?

Want something for outside when the wind is too harsh for my CX2.

Any feedback appreciated.

you've not specified a budget or type of heli your after.

do you want to stick with electric or go to ic, did you want to stick with the RTF type helis or move to something like a Rex 450?

Bigger is better for outside, but we'll need some idea of budget because there is a world of differance in cost between a midi sized electric and a 90 sized nitro ship!

Around £150 for the first proper outdoor heli and I would like to stay with Electric for now.

I think i would prefer RTF but if its a kit then so be it. I like building things anyhow so it would add to excitement.

@ Sao : Is there anyone local here that flies locally you know of? Any good spots apart from the back garden?

There are a few local clubs but most of them are not heli friendly
I don't know of any other local fliers.
If its micro stuff then I used to fly up at Tring Park theres a nice little valley down the far end with a great tree for sitting under.

Steer clear of the local recreation parks, you always get some kids trying to catch it / kick footballs at it!

Hi Matt, For 150 notes you are a bit restricted to what you can get.
Belt cp is an option but there are others i.e mini pred, falcon 3d (virtually identical to the mini pred) and these are all RTF's that can be had for around 170-190 notes.
These really are starter heli's and will be restrictive later on but perfectly capable of buzzing roung your local club field.
For a much more capable RTF heli the hot one at the moment is the Blade 400, it comes with a 2.4GHZ radio the same as your CX2 plus has full 3D capability, but at a cost of 270 ish.
Best to stay away from the walkeras as they can be iffy on the electrics.

If you have only got that much money spend £180 on a BLADE CX contra heli and Phoenix Flight Sim.

Save you money up and buy something decent when you can afford it. I.e. a TREX450 V2 or even the TREX 500. You may during this period find a club you can fly at and realise that nitro is your best option to learn with.

Why not just buy the kit say a knight sport £170 and buid it and get piece by piece , all of us had to do this at some point. Then he will have a good set up in the end . ARD in here did this but used the clasified in here and saved him self loads of coin

£150 was just a ball park figure, i can stretch a bit more if needed.

I suppose what Im really after is a good beginner heli for outside that can handle a bit of wind.

Took the blade CX2 out today for all of 10 seconds then realised this is not going to happen.. Was only a small breeze too.

i am going to order pheonix and then fly some of the 3d ones on there
this would mean that i will have saved up a bit of money (for the blade 400 3d hopefully) and on my first flight i wont go and crash

Hi Matt,
I too am a beginner and have decided that although the CX2 has gained my interest in Heli flying it is limited to still days outdoors in standard trim!
I was fortunate to receive a Reflex sim over christmas and have realised how poor my ability was/is!.............I couldn't keep anything in the air on the sim boxing day for more than 20 seconds!!!
Now I can hover and fly away most helis on the sim for 3 or so minutes. Orientation is a nightmare and flying head in is a joke; must have spent thousands in crashes so far. I think the sim will prove invaluable as I get nearer to deciding on first proper heli and hopfully save me a lot of money by avoiding crashes
