  • Honeybee king 2 spinning problem????

Hi all new to the forum here. My dad got me a honeybee king 2 for christmas after i subtly hinted to him that i wanted to get into helis after getting bored of throwing money at rc cars. I innicially (sp) wanted a t rex 450 but after adding up the cost i soon realised that a cheap dispensable heli would be better to practice with then later upgrade.

I had my first flight yesterday even though it was too windy as i was desperate to give it a go. I have been practicing on phoenix for some months now so sort of know what to do. Well after about 5 minutes of trying to maintain a stable hover whilst probably in a 10mph wind i had my first crash after the wind seemed of got under the blades and push it on it;s side and towards the ground. A ,ore experienced pilot would have recoverd but i also suspect that a more experience pilot would not have been flying in these winds.

Anyways my problem is that after replacing the broken blades and putting a new rear fin on today when i tryed to fly the heli everytime it took off it started spinning violently i think anti clockwise. I have tried adjusting the rudder trim on the transmitter but i suspect it might be the gyro. I also looked in my manual but it is rubish and dosn't even include what i would consider basic solutions.

    can any one help me
    cheers.

    hi,
you have most likely bent the feathering shaft. also with the spinning - you might of knocked the tail servo and it could of moved on the boom.

you should put the rudder trim on the handset in the middle and set the rudder by loosening the tail servo clamp and slide it up or down the boom. then use the rudder trim on the handset for fine adjustments.

when you first come to plug the heli battery in put it on a level surface and then plug it in. dont move the heli untill the gyro sets itself.

try these vids. here is vid 1 - [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dh30iHwx4GY[/ame]

check out his other vids aswell - there are about 5 or 6 parts.

    good luck with it

cheers for that. I think it may be that i was not leaving the gyro to set properly. This information should really be in the manual. Cheers for posting the link to those videos they are a great help i will go and set my heli up now for tommoro. Quick question is it alright to leave the standard esky batteries on charge overnight???

no - you shouldnt leave lipo batteries unattended when charging. lipo's can be dangerous. they only take about an hour and half to charge. dont run them completly flat aswell or they wont charge up again. also dont store them flat - charge them when you have used it but let the battery cool before you put it on charge.

        those vids should help you

Yeah i just got back and i'm really frustrated with it. I thought that letting the gyro set properly would fix the problem but it hasn't. i tried fiddling with the elevator trim then flicking the gyro switch on my transmitter even though i don't know what it is?? As for your previous post about the feathering shaft being bent is that the one that drives the tail rotor?? Also i will try and set the rudder trim by sliding the servo along the boom. What am i looking for as the best position to have the servo along the boom?

sorry about all the questions any help would be greatly appreciated.

Feathering shaft is the one in the head that the Blade grips are connected into.

Generally the Tail servo should be positioned so that when the output arm is at 90degrees to the servo body the tail rotor blades are neutral (no pitch in either direction).

Do a search on Finless Bob and watch his setup video's over at Helifreak. They will help no end!

Most of all you just need to take your time and be patient. Try reading Radds and get Phoenix if you dont have it already.
