  • New to Heli Flying, Please help me get flying on the weekend:)

    Hey,

I bought a Blade 450X on Monday with a DX8 with the intension of getting good with lots of practice.

However, Since the 450x was delivered I got worried about crashing it on my first flight.

The same day I got an email about the Blade CPX Nano just come out.I made the decision to buy one and fly that until I am confident

I basically am brand new to Heli's and tomorrow when the Nano turns up in the post I would like to know what to do to get going

1: How do I bind my DX8 to the CPX

2: What settings do i need to adjust on the DX8?If any?

3: Any preflight points I need to know about? Run the motor brushes in etc?

Sorry to sound like an idiot but I am beginner and id like to do everything the correct way until I get good

    Regards

    Paul

    Hi Paul,

Where are you based? It maybe worth meeting up with someone to talk you through it all.

If you get yourself along to the 3d champs this weekend I'm sure you will get plenty of offers to get you on your way.

Both the CPX and the 450x will come complete with all the settings required within the manuals, you will need to input these yourself into your DX8.

        Hi and welcome!!

Before you fly your helis I'd advise getting a sim to practise on if you can. It will help you get used to how a collective pitch heli behaves...also as has just been said seeking out a club and going along there would also be a good idea. The sim will save you lots of money in repairs

If you have a look at your DX8 instructions it will tell you how to bind to a heli...also the nCPX will tell you the settings to put into your transmitter.

Hi Paul and welcome to the forum. Looks like you've got the bug big time. As well as the above post you need to find someone local who can help you with the initial learning curve. It is steep! But well worth it.

Another piece of advice would be to get hold of Phoenix (a simulator) that will help you understand the basics without the crash bills. It is worth it's weight in gold.

I am sure some others from your area will answer your call and offer some experience to get you going. This is a very friendly community.

Enjoy our time here. Good Luck and Happy Landings.

Oh ok, iv read through most of the (huge) Dx8i manuel but was still confused. Seems there is so much to learn. I will have a look at the Blade CPX manuel tomorrow.

              Thanks alot

The champs are in Gloucestershire : 3D Championship | The UK's Premier 3D Model Helicopter Competition

If you've never flown a collective pitch heli before you really should do some research before you try to fly the 450X.

Best option by a country mile IMO - Get lessons! (eg. Phoenix Model Aviation Ltd)
Second best option : follow an on-line set of lessons (eg. How To Fly RC Helicopters)

Seriously! Lessons, and a Sim are your best friend!

Best of luck - it's an awesome hobby and extremely rewarding!

Phoenix is the best Sim. It works on a Mac, but only under bootcamp/windows. Parallels apparently works, but I can't vouch for that.
